Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus: "Teacher," he said "what must I do to inherit external life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? What do you read there?" He answered, "You shall love the Lord your god with all your strength, and with your mind; and your neighbour as yourself." and He said to him, "You have given the right answers do this and you will live." But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus "And who is my neighbour?" Jesus replied,
"A young man who bears the name Zero Kiryu was walking in the forest one day in an attempt to complete his assignment. However during his journey the young man was attacked by several Level E vampires. He was left bloodied and beaten.
Coincidentally his father Kaien Cross happened to pass by, however because he was in a rush to go to the Hunter's Association Award night he totally ignored his adopted son and his cries for help. His best friend Yuuki Kuran, who was chasing after her father Kaien Cross, also happened to pass by; and ignored Zero's cries for help.
But Kaname Kuran, as he was travelling, came to where Zero was and he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds as best as he could. He then lifted him up and brought him to a nearby home and took care of him, because Zero lost so much blood, Kaname offered to donate his own blood so Zero could have a blood transfusion. The next day Kaname gave the owner of the house $500. 'Use this money and look after him,' he said 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'
