Authors note: Let me live in my delusion okay. I got this idea after the sneak peak and I KNOW it won't happen this way BUT LET ME LIVE MY DELUSION OKAY. Especially since you know the Tamara thing..not gonna happen but alas.

If there is one thing I know about you is that you don't stop until you find what you are looking for

Emma looked up at him, a small smile playing at her lips at his words. It was hard to accept that he knew her so well, after being apart for eleven years, he shouldn't have been able to do that. He shouldn't have been able to make her smile with his words, but he did. He reached over, gingerly brushing his fingers along her hand, and she didn't pull away.

"Thanks" she said, as she looked at him.

"Only telling you the truth" he told her.

There was something in the air, something clearly domestic about this whole scene. Maybe it was the fact he had just delivered their son, asleep, and she had covered him up. The things that they should have been able to do, but weren't able to. She looked over at him and she pulled her hand away from him, getting up from her chair she made her way to the kitchen.

"So I guess you should be going back to Tamara, right?" she asked as she grabbed a glass.

Neal walked towards her, there was something in his eyes that was telling her that he had been thinking what she had. She tried to keep her eyes focused on the glass she was holding, and she was going to head to the fridge but she felt him behind her. She tense slightly when she felt him grab hold of her arm.

"Em" he trailed off, and Emma finally turned towards him to face him.

"Yeah?" she asked.

She didn't have time to process what he was doing, before she realized what was going on, his lips were on hers, and she happily responded. A part of her was telling her that this was a bad idea, he was engaged, and he was ready to marry someone else. But as his hand fell to her waist to pull her closer, and the other snaked into her hair, she lost all train of thought. She allowed herself a few more moments of ignorance, before she had to pull away.

"We can't, you are engaged" she said, as she put a hand on his chest, gently pushing him away.

"Emma, I still love you. This, it proves Tamara had a point, I'm not over you"

'That doesn't make this okay, Neal. I am not helping you cheat on your fiancé"

"She isn't my fiancé anymore, Emma. I told her that I wasn't sure about my feelings. She told me she was going back to New York, I asked for the ring back"

Emma looked up at him, "What? When?"

"After the whole August thing, we had a long talk, and we agreed maybe it would be best if we took a break" Neal told her as he pulled her closer not letting her respond before he pressed his lips against her own again.

Her thoughts were consumed by the feeling of his lips against her own, and she soon found herself tugging at his scarf, removing it. Neal began to push them towards the iron wrought stairs that led to her room, they managed to get up the stairs, with some difficulty, and leaving a trail of clothes on the floor of her bedroom in an attempt to get to her bed. This was what it was supposed to be like for them, this was the type of life they would have been able to have. But the time for thinking about what they should have was over, what only mattered was them being together, and the life they would build as a family.
