One-Shot

He stood apart from the others. Watching. Silent tears slip down his face and he angrily wipes them away. Running a hand through his hair he leans back against a tree, using shaking hands to light a cigarette. He can't bring himself to take a drag though, throwing it to the ground and crushing it under his shoe. She wouldn't approve.

He wishes he could stand with the others and openly mourn her death. He had brought flowers with him to place on her grave after the others had left. He knew if they saw him they'd probably attack him. Or not let him say good bye.

And he wanted to say good bye to this woman. This lady, who had listened to him, made him hot chocolate and treated him like an actual person instead of a monster. This woman who had been kind to him.

He missed her already and it had only been three days. He really liked her.

He watched her coffin being lowered into the ground, watched them all lay flowers and say goodbye. He waited for them all to leave and walked over, stopping at the edge of disrupted dirt, staring at the tombstone. Kneeling down he placed the flowers gently to the side. Standing he feels tears sting his eyes again.

"Rest in peace, luv. I'll watch over your girls for ya" he murmurs.

Walking away, Spike leaves Joyce Summers grave.
