Why does Dean always assume he's going to forget the pie? He never forgets the pie! Sam is fuming silently as he drives out on a supply run. These last few months have been horrible. Lucifer is still walking free and now Gabe is dead.

At first, he'd believed Gabe wasn't really dead, that he had tricked them all somehow and would pop up at any second. But as the days and weeks went by, he started losing hope. His dream last night, watching the Trickster get stabbed yet again, sealed away his last hopes; Gabe really is dead.

"Heya, Samoose. How ya doin?" A voice- Gabe's voice- comes from the back of the car. Sam slams on the brakes- thankfully, he's in the middle of nowhere with no one behind him- and spins around.

"Gabe?" He asks with wonder.

"In the flesh! Well- kinda."

"Oh, great," Sam sits back in the seat and closes his eyes, "now I'm hallucinating."

"Not technically. Yes, this is just a projection of me, but I am alive." Gabe's eyes twinkle with mischief.

"Why wait so long to contact me- us? I meant us." Sam glares at the angel.

"Big Brother was watching. Had to make sure you believed I was dead so he would."

"So, you're really alive? Where are you?"

"Yes, Sammy, I'm alive." Gabe laughs, "I'm in the Bahamas."

"Would you come back?"

"Aww, does someone miss me?" Gabe bats his lashes jokingly.

"Maybe," Sam responds defensively. Gabe drops the act.

"That's a yes, then. You miss me." Sam glares, let's out a long, suffering sigh, and says, "yes, Gabe, I miss you. Happy now?"

"Immensely." The angel's tone is sincere. "I miss you, too, Sam."

"Then come back!" The projection of the Trickster vanishes and in the next instant, Gabe is sitting right next to Sam, so close their knees touch.

"I still can't believe you're alive," Sam whispers.

"Believe it. I'm sitting right here." The angel watches Sam carefully for a few moments, studying his eyes before coming to a realization. The way he feels about Sam is definitely reciprocated. Taking a chance, he leans in and presses his lips to Sam's. For that second, that is the only contact between them, then Sam pulls away.

"What the hell, Gabriel?"

"Sorry. I thought-" Gabe turns away, surprised and hurt. Had he read Sam wrong?

"Are you just messing around? Or did you really mean that?"

"I meant it. I wouldn't have kissed you if I didn't." Sam's hand on his shoulder has him turning his head back to the human. In the next instant, Sam is kissing him, his arms wrapped around him, holding him close.

Quite some time later, Sam's phone rings.

"Dude, where's my pie? It's been, like, an hour!"
