A short drabble featuring the younger incarnation of Neo-Queen Serenity, Usagi, and Diamond in which Diamond succeeds in capturing Usagi and destroys her future and all that jazz like a thousand of fanfiction stories has written before me. This is edited from a previous story I have lying around here somewhere for another fandom, but fits this one much nicer. Hope you enjoy, please review!
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
There are no clocks here for the simple fact he hates clocks, he finds their ticking irritating and grating on his ever frazzled nerves. But somewhere, somewhere far away from the luxurious room that had become her gilded cage there was a clock ticking as each second falls into the the ever growing distant past.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
The seconds, the minutes, the hours, fall away into the oblivion of past.
Past...how she wouldn't love to return to the past. Before all this...
"Thinking about the past again, Serenity?" his voice drifts to her lazily, snapping her from her saddened haze.
She blinks back tears she didn't know had formed in her cerulean blue eyes.
He is beside her then, his strong body pressed against her own, his arms encasing her in a bitterly cold embrace.
How she misses the warmth of Mamo-chan, a person who warmed her through and through. Instead this man chills her to the very bone, and he doesn't seem to care that he's slowly sucking the life out of her with ever touch, every caress. He doesn't care.
She allows herself a single sob as he buries his head into her messy blond hair, unbrushed for the day, inhaling her scent. "There, there," he soothes her like one would a small child with the tiniest hint of mockery in his velvet voice. "Think about the future." She can feel him smile against her odangos, but her mind doesn't register it right away.
Her mind goes blank for a moment. For a split moment her mind is blissfully unaware and unthinking. It feels sublime. She can almost escape from it all, and it is beyond a wonderful feeling that she wants to keep forever close to her. This is as near to serenity as she can get now, and she wants nothing more than to feel numb for forever.
She then feels him press his lips against her neck and she shudders from his calculating touch and realization that comes washing over her like a tidal wave.
He always did that. Brought her back to this painful reality just when she found some semblance of contentment and peace within herself.
The future. Her future. She doesn't have to open her eyes to see it now.
Centuries ahead await with certain things in tow without a single doubt; white silk bedsheets, ghost pianist fingers, cold lips, chilling violet irises...and Diamond. Only Diamond.
She leans into him. She leans into him because she has no choice but to.
The past was just that; past. It was gone forever; untouchable.
Like a long gone dream.
Diamond was her present and future. For eternity.
Sorrow floods every inch of her body as she cries.
Somewhere a clock is ticking.
