Escaping the Snake's Nest
From Uchiha Sasuke's Point of View
Characters: Sasuke, Kabuto, Orochimaru
Summary: The moment after 'fixing' Orochimaru.
Sometimes he doubted his decision of submitting himself to the Snake as his tutor.
A genius, no doubt about that, the black sheep of the Legendary Three of the Leaf would not be the last resort anyone sane would seek aid from. Neither could there be medicine as potent enough as to detoxify his corrupted agenda, nor could it possibly support the vessel which only his dark mind could sustain. Alas, unnatural as it originally was, the container had to be replaced – it had finally become a necessity for the Snake to shed its dry scales.
Was it out of pity that the youngest, if not the last, of the Uchiha clan was offered a shelter before he was, too, overtaken like his predecessors?
Whatever the answer was, there wasn't anything left the old slithering Snake could teach. Within these two short years he had honed his fighting skills to their finest. Nothing had come easy even for a fast learner. Emotion was equated to weaknesses – he learnt that soon enough. In preparing himself for his ultimate nemesis he could not afford a slightest distraction. Yet that did not mean forbidding himself from showing mercy on those he was not supposed to kill.
Was he still being too soft? Had he actually learnt something out of the dark labyrinths of the Snake's Nest? Doubting about things out of his control was a waste of time; his minds thus resorted on forging plans for revenge.
"Which one are you?"
The words coming out from the medical ninja were dry and… What was it amid the tinge of tensed expectancy? Had the man just discovered the messy pile of leftover in the room? As he turned back to face the ninja who had many a time betrayed the Leaf, he slowly made sense of the scent he caught in the air: Fear.
The impulse of tearing that face off the skull while keeping a straight face was so great. But what would he gain from such an act? He sighed. Then, confidently: "I am certainly not Orochimaru…"
The End
