NOTES: Continuing the Eyes of Childhood series. :) By request (and an idea I had), Will and Deanna deal with their baby at an ungodly hour of the night. I just thought of this as I was babysitting and wondered if the kid was plotting against me somehow. Then I thought, "He-eyyyy...". More mindless fluff, but so were the other two.

The baby girl's cry pierced the night.

Will Riker rolled over, sighing at the interruption from a sound sleep. "Good Lord...doesn't she EVER sleep?"

His wife Deanna sighed as well. "She's hungry."

Will grinned. He loved being married to an empath. It eliminated so many guessing games! "Dee--you're better...um, equipped, than I am to take care of that."

Their daughter Amy continued to cry.

"Mommy's coming," Deanna assured her, then climbed out of bed to feed the three-month-old.

Riker drifted back to sleep and barely noticed when Deanna got back into bed.

Two hours later, Amy was at it again.

"Deanna?"

"Hmmm?"

"What's she want now?"

Deanna checked, reaching out to her daughter's mind, and recoiling at the intensity of the emotion. "She's lonely, Will. She wants to be cuddled."

"You're serious?"

"Yes, I am. And you, my Imzadi, are just as able to handle that as I." She turned over and tried to go back to sleep.

They both loved their little girl dearly, but at these times of the night, it was an argument over who would have to get up.

After soothing Amy's abandonment issues, Riker went back to bed and was asleep almost before his head hit the pillow.

He was awakened again an hour later.

"Ohhh...Dee, this is more than I bargained for when you told me we were having a baby."

There was a long pause.

"Deanna? Imzadi? What's she want?"

Deanna moaned, and put her head under the pillow. "She's trying to drive us crazy!"

"Think we should get her anyway?"

"Yes. Go."

"Me? I did it last."

"And I HAD the baby."

Will got up, and regarded her with a playful annoyance. "I hate how you can always win with that."

Deanna managed half a shrug before heading back to dreamland. "Childbirth's the ultimate bargaining chip, Will."
