Chapter 1: Class Trip

Tick-tock, tick-tock, went the clock on the classroom wall. Theresa tried not to yawn as the history teacher droned on about Theseus and the Minotaur. She knew everything already; being the descendant of the hero himself had been helpful. She snuck a glance at Neil and Odie beside her, and noticed that Odie, as usual, was silent and alert, scribbling down notes as the teacher talked. Neil was busy examining his nails, and Theresa wished that Atlanta was part of this class. Then she would have had someone to pass notes to.

"And we will be taking a class trip this Friday to the museum, to see the ball of string Theseus used in the maze," the teacher said.

Theresa perked up at the mention of trip. She furrowed her brow. Hmmm, she thought. That might be interesting.

That night in the dorm, Odie chattered excitedly about the trip, while six of the other teens rolled their eyes. Atlanta groaned. "Odie, can you please be quiet?"

Odie glared at her. "But you don't understand. This is the ball of string-"

"We know, Odie. The one that Theseus used," Theresa interrupted. "I wonder how they got it."

"Why does it matter?" Jay asked. Theresa bit her lip. "I'm not sure; I've just got this feeling…"

"Theresa and her feelings. Honestly, can you stop going on and on about them. We all know you like-" Archie began. Theresa slapped her hand across his mouth.

"Shut up, Archie," she hissed in his ear. "Or you won't see the nice side of me."

Archie shrugged her off. "Whatever," he said, and stalked out of the room.

Jay looked confused. "What just happened?" he asked. "What's with you guys?"

"Nothing!" Theresa yelled. "Can't I just, ughh, never mind. You wouldn't understand! You guys always take me for granted, ughh!" She strode out of the room angrily.

"What's with her?" Herry asked, glancing at Jay, who shrugged helplessly.

"No idea."

In her room, Theresa was lying on her bed, throwing her nun chucks around dangerously. There was a knock on her door, and Atlanta let herself in.

"What's the matter with you?" Atlanta asked.

Theresa shook her head. "I don't know, it's just that, ever since the teacher mentioned a class trip, I've been getting these really bad feelings, and it's driving me crazy! Because I don't know what they mean…"

Atlanta looked thoughtful. "Hmm, maybe Ms. Persephone would know?" she suggested.

Theresa didn't seem convinced. "I don't think so. Her powers are limited."

Atlanta decided to leave then. "Maybe you're just being a Drama Queen, like Archie said."

Theresa gritted her teeth. "Oh yeah? Well, here's a piece of the 'Drama Queen'!" she said daringly, her fingertips glowing. Atlanta gulped.

"See ya," she chirped, and whizzed out of the room.

Theresa lay back in bed and closed her eyes. And began to dream.
