Something about Ishtar Isis [Ishizu] that didn't come out right at all.

She likes to speak in circles because it helps her understand herself. Sometimes she knows that she's not making any sense at all, but she doesn't want to stop because then there would be silence.
And silence reminds her of things of which she doesn't want to be reminded of.
She likes to make predictions because it helps her figure out things. Sometimes she knows that they probably won't fit together anyhow, but she doesn't want to stop because then there would be confusion.
And confusion tells her things of which she doesn't want to be told.
She likes to see things that confluence with what she believes because it helps her reassure herself that everything she knows is indeed correct. Sometimes she knows that she's probably just fooling herself into believing that, but she doesn't want to stop because then there would be doubt.
And doubt gives her things of which she doesn't want to have.
So when Kaiba Seto opens up his Battle City, and takes Obelisk from her hold, she only nods and lets him leave, because that's the way things are supposed to go.
So when Mutou Yuugi enters Battle City, and becomes one of the six finalists, she's not surprised and watches him pass, because that's the way things are supposed to go.
So when the tournament selector matches her number with that of Kaiba Seto's, and she receives a calculating look from her opponent, she merely closes her eyes in acceptance and walks to the pavilion, because that's the way things are supposed to go.
And Kaiba Seto will return the card.
And Mutou Yuugi will save the world.
And she will defeat him and rescue her brother from the darkness.
She wasn't expecting Kaiba Seto to summon his Blue Eyes.
She wasn't expecting her to lose.
She wasn't expecting giving the Tauk to her Pharaoh ever so soon.
And as she retreated to her chambers, she thought that perhaps everything she had thought about in the past were only dreams.
It must be time for her to wake up.

Before I wrote this [this was a plotbunny I had for at least two months], I was thinking a ShaadiIsisSeto triangle. Subtle, of course. It ended up to be…what I didn't expect. Generally, an Isis-centric piece.
Hmm.
