A short fic based on the scripted unfilmed scene between Harry and Ruth in 2.2 that was mentioned in the Spooks official handbook, Enjoy.

First day embarrassment
Ruth was getting up to leave the grid after her first day working for MI-5. She felt it had been exciting and she couldn't wait for tomorrow as she was so excited she decided to stay abit later on the grid. She turned to look at the time and it was 8:30 pm she noticed only her and Harry were the only ones there.
There were steps coming towards her and the sound of a door closing.
"Miss Evershed it's quite late I think you should go home." Harry said walking towards her.
"I wanted to just get some background information on our Ibhn Khaldun and how we can keep an eye on him." Ruth said looking up with a smile.
"You've been at GCHQ too long, this job isn't all about sneaking up on people and then sending others in to do the dirty work! " Harry replied rather sharply.
Ruth looked a little embarrassed and hurt at his sudden outburst. Harry sensing this muttered.
"Apology." And then gave a faint smile.
"Accepted." Ruth said rather hurriedly getting up to leave, but giving Harry a quick reassuring smile.
Ruth put her coat on and then picked her files up.
"See you in the morning Harry." Ruth said walking past him.
"See you tomorrow Ruth." Harry said turning around and sighing to himself.
They both walked in opposite directions with a sight smile on their faces.
