A/N: OK, so was I the only one who thought Hanssen was on the verge of saying somthing else to Sahira on tonight's episode? Just the look on his face when he stopped speaking. And I love how the pair of the were so alike in theatre, too.
This is really short, by the way!

"I don't need another registrar. I need -" Hanssen stopped talking, realising what he had been about to say to her. Then again, why shouldn't he say it? It was a perfectly normal thing to say. He was only reluctant to let it come out of his mouth because he knew what he really meant by it. There was a reason that her last three jobs had been with Hanssen. He could not be without her. He needed her there with him, making him fractionally less bitter and twisted than he knew he would be without her.
He met her eyes and felt his heart soften. He wanted her on this case for a reason. Though he would not admit it, he needed her to be with him because this patient made him uncomfortable. He held no interest in her by any means, but that made it no less unnerving. He rarely felt uneasy in his workplace; it was his natural habitat, so to speak. He needed her to make him feel more relaxed with this case. He knew Greg was a perfectly good surgeon, but their last meeting had gone a little awry, to say the least. He would only be more uncomfortable with Greg.
He allowed himself to lean against the wall while he contemplated how to finish the sentence. Was there really anything wrong with telling her that he needed her? She would probably just take it as a mundane statement, one she had heard many times before and took no greater meaning out of it. But there was a lot of meaning in it when he said it to her. He loved her, and he needed her more than anything else he had come across. There was a small lump in his throat when he thought upon that. He knew when he did speak, his voice would probably be broken.
She could take what she wanted out of it, he decided. He just needed her to know that it was her that he had to have around. "I need you," he told her, his voice coming out hoarse and cracked. She gave him a strange look and a nod, leaving him to think about what he had said. Well, he had said it now. He could not take it back, and he was not even sure that he would if he got the chance. What was the point?
Hope it was alright!
