Relatively Sane for a Girl

Summary: Quinn's reflections on a girl she hardly knows.

A/N: A short little drabble I thought of for no apparent reason.
Tina, I think, is the girl I envy most. It should be Rachel and believe me; I was thrown for a loop when I figured it out myself. As much as I dislike Rachel and her fondness of pantsuits and animal sweaters, Tina is happy. Really happy. She's the happiest person I've ever met and I don't think we've had a conversation outside of Glee Club. Rachel's not happy unless there's drama in her life that rivals a Greek tragedy. Brittany's not happy if she's not with Santana. Santana's not happy if everyone knows she'd rather be with Brittany than some nameless jock. Lauren's not happy unless she's making someone else miserable. Mercedes, for her part, is also happy. Happy, but still lonely. It's a sentiment I understand all too well. But Tina the Goth, Tina the Weird, Tina the Shy, she is joyful.
I almost didn't notice. It's not hard to walk right by Tina. As much as her clothing stands out, she blends in. After two years in glee, she doesn't assume she'll get the lead. In fact, anytime there's one up for grabs, Tina is almost certainly not going to get it. She has, in my opinion, a great voice. She's content to let the rest of us fight tooth and nail for each solo or run. Does she want them? Yes. I can see it in her eyes.
It's funny; I've never taken the time to think about someone like this. Why I envy her. The truth is, I don't want Mike, I just like the way he loves her. I don't want weird black vampire clothes or the heavy makeup, I just like the way she isn't afraid to express that side of herself. I don't want to fade into the background; I just want to be happy. Like her.
Anyone know of a Carole/Quinn fic? I think I might try my hand at that… their dynamic is intriguing since Quinn lived with the Hudsons for a short period of time in season 1.
