"I am sick of it! Sick of him!"

"Jean, don't worry…"

"How dare he imply that I'm a wuss!"

"Jean…"

"I am no wuss! If anything, he's the wuss!"

"Hey."

"Thinks he's all big because he's seen the mighty titans."

"Calm down…"

"Ooh, look at me! I'm Eren and you should all love me and worship me! Ooooh, but don't talk to me about titans because I'll break down and start crying!"

"Stop it Jean."

"He just needs someone to give him a big beating!"

"Jean"

"I'll do it! Where is he? I'll beat him up! That'll bloody show him!"

"JEAN!"

He stops then, and looks at me with his brown eyes wide in astonishment- it's the first time he's heard me raise my voice, at him. I lower my tone to a harsh whisper, we are in the bunk house after all and Reiner and Bertholdt are just a few beds over.

"That's enough! You don't know anything about what he's been through! You need to shut your gob and remember why we're here."

"No… NO! Marco, dammit, he needs to shut up and realize that not everyone is as bloody brave as he is."

As soon as I see the first tear fall I stop and shuffle closer to him so that our thighs are touching. "Jean… You are brave- you're my lion. Nothing can change that."

He lets out another painful sob. I reach up and wipe a tear from his cheek. He looks over to me with his chocolate brown eyes.

"No… I'm not brave Marco…" He lets out another sob so I pull him into me in a warm embrace, "Darn it Marco… I couldn't even save you…"

He pulls away, his cheeks glistening with tears. I give him a small smile, and reach up to stroke his cheek one last time- one last time before I disappear from this dream, from this nightmare. From this false reality.
