Her cold hands
graced the metal, jagged knife. Her endless tears streamed down her
face, as she took small sobs. Loose strands of hair hung around her
pale face. Susan glanced at the clock, it was 12:55. She
had been sitting in the same position for almost two hours. Two hours
since she heard the news, two hours since her soul left her body, two
hours since his beautiful smile began to fade and had escaped her
mind forever, and two hours since her spirit died. Susan didn't
want to deny Him anymore, maybe that's why she wasn't with the
man she loved. All she could do was blame herself; she couldn't
point her finger at the facts, because the facts were now staring her
in the face, and the facts had stabbed her in the heart. 12:56. She
took another swig from her lipstick stained glass, and flinched at
the sharp taste of her vodka, as she crumpled up an old family
picture. She had been staring at his familiar smile for too long. One
large sob escaped her throat, and Susan clutched her face, as if she
was trying to force the tears back. 12:57. The fire
she had put on for warmth also conveniently went out around the same
time the telegraph came. The room had dropped fifteen degrees since
the fire went out. She didn't bother to close the windows, and
didn't bother to turn the heat on. Whether or not the heat was on
wouldn't make a difference. She was going to feel this cold for the
rest of her life. 12:58. In Susan's mind, the way
she was going to die was almost classic. It seemed like something you
would read in an old fashioned sad ending love story. The final
dramatic, irrefutable ending. 12:59. As Susan closed
her eyes; she saw his calm face calling for her. His delicate lips
parted as he mouthed the words 'I love you'. Susan pressed the
tip of the knife into her chest. Susan kept her eyes closed, hoping
that maybe that vision would never leave her sight. The clock rang
once as Susan opened her mouth in pain. Blood gushed down her
hands, soaking into her white silk gown, as her head tilted back in
defeat. For a love so jaded… the lovers' time had finally run
out.
