" Vivian Sinéad Krios." A soft voice threaded with the exhaustion of childbirth replied when asked what to fill in on the birth record. Soft dark brown hair framed the pale green skinned face of the infant, Drell eyes that looked as if the sky itself had leaked into them opened to focus on the human woman that held her. " We did it Thane... " The woman whispered softly to the Drell that stood next to her.

Her Drell mate was overcome with the rush of emotion and utter awe as he looked at the first living human-Drell hybrid he had ever seen... Mordin's parting gift to the Commander. The woman in the bed holding his newborn daughter was none other than the now famous savior of the Galaxy, Commander Grace Shepard... Though if he had his way about it, she would be Grace Krios soon enough.

" Siha.. Her name.. What does it mean?" Thane asked his beloved, his fingers gracing over his daughter's slightly scaled skin. She looked a bit more Drell than human but her hands and feet were clearly of human DNA, as was the hair that covered her head, along with the blue in her dark eyes. Other than that, she looked very Drell like. Shepard turned to Thane with a thoughtful smile. " Vivian means life.. And Sinéad... means God is Gracious.. given the circumstances of her journey to this moment.. I thought it suitable." She replied, looking to him to see if he approved.

" You have pondered this for some time... I think her name suits her." He replied, smiling and brushing a light kiss across her forehead just as the door to the room burst open. " Am I too late?" The voice spoke, the rasping sounding similar to Thane. " A bit.. But I don't think you would have wanted to see the actual birth.. " Grace started and Kolyat placed the packages he held on the table near the door beside the large stack of gifts already there, and the disgusted scowl on his face told the Commander her answer.

" So.. Sister or brother?" He asked, coming over to look at the baby. His gaze soon held a more gentle aura in it, he was both in awe and caught up in a wave of emotions. He had been very bitter at the idea of having a sibling at first, his outburst making Grace wonder if she made the wrong choice. But over the coming months, a change had come over the young man. He had went from hate, to acceptance, and then almost excitement and a protective instinct emerged.. like father like son.

" A sister.. Vivian Sinéad." Shepard replied then held the baby towards Kolyat and the male looked terrified. " I... don't know how to..." he started and his soon to be stepmother took his hands and positioned them properly and placed the baby in his arms. Kolyat looked down at her then spoke. " Hello Vivian.. I'm your big brother Kolyat. Its nice to meet you.." he said, feeling a bit awkward for a moment until a tiny hand closed around his index finger and that about broke him.

Whatever he felt at the start of this seemed a lifetime ago. So this is what it was like for his parents.. sort of. To be holding a new life that was totally dependent on those around it. He looked at his father and Shepard and grinned slightly. " You know... you are never going to get rid of visitors now.. just look at her. Vivian is going be a heartbreaker.. she's already practicing on me." He said and Grace and Thane chuckled. The future looked bright for the Krios family.
