Maristela Freesia's 100 Theme Challenge, Theme 2: Light. Enjoy! Review!
We were underground. Running from something. They attacked; we fought back. I tried to stay away from the traps, from everything that could potentially kill me. I tried. Tried as hard as I could.
But it wasn't hard enough, obviously. The world suddenly erupted in light; but not white light. Red. Blood. My whole world exploded in a flash of red light, drowning out all other colors. I heard someone screaming my name. But it's over now, thankfully. Something flew at my neck... a blade of some sort. Red painted the backs of my eyelids; pain erupted, but it couldn't block out the red light. I did all I could to stay alive. I tried as hard as I could. But, once again, it wasn't enough. Not even close.
So now I'm just waiting for someone to find me. They haven't taken my body back, they haven't buried me. They haven't even told her of my unfortunate yet inevitable fate.
The last light I saw was red. And it wasn't even real.
My name is Finnick Odair. I died in the underground; and I never saw the light again.
