Just a short, sweet, and quite cheesy drabble that came into mind one day. Nothing special, I just wanted to explore my newfound writing skills a bit more. Enjoy =)

"Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own."
--
Robert A. Heinlein

Lily Evans never knew that she could ever love a person so completely and irrevocably. Her life was like a picture perfect canvas, with bright blue skies and burgeoning flowers. It was as if her heart had swelled to the size of a thousand red balloons. Happiness radiated out of all the single pores in her body; she was entirely wholesome in every aspect.

The reason for such profound happiness lied within the man sleeping next to her. He lay curled up under the blankets and Lily could only see a bit of his face. He looked so innocent and sweet in his sleep, with his long eyelashes and smooth cheeks. They reminded her of a little child. Lily pondered this thought. Why is it always that men had the best eyelashes? Women spent ages crimping and coating that part of the face, but all their efforts seemed futile in comparison. It seemed silly that what men don't care about women seek to possess.

The man in question interrupted Lily's musings by mumbling something incoherent. She looked over her shoulder and smiled. Her warm hands caressed his cheeks, and although he was still sleeping he instinctively reached out a hand to touch hers. She smiled, her heart swelling with contentment.

"I love you" she whispered.

She couldn't believe that there existed a person she could not live without. He was her lifeline, her oxygen. He was essential to her welfare and state of being. Without him, it would only seem like she were half a person.

The man smiled, almost as if it seemed to have heard her. "I love you too, Lily."

Lily's breath hitched in her throat. She felt as if she was about to go into fibrillation. Every time he said those powerful words it seemed like he was saying them for the first time. It was those words that were able to melt Lily into a pile of mush on the floor. It seemed so cheesy to her back in her school days whenever couples spoke of love. She found it crazy that people actually knew or felt what it was, since she never believed in it herself. At such a young age, she didn't think it was possible for people to feel what it truly had to offer. How foolish and stupid she had been. If she had known what this was like, she would've never denied it to herself for all those years.

She gazed at her lover for a few moments, and then, slowly, she got up from the warm bed. Memories of last night flooded into her mind, and she smiled quietly to herself at her thoughts. It had been a beautiful night - the moon was full and blazing, the numerous stars had scattered the sky, and the air was crisp and clear. He had swept her off her feet, and together they declared their love for one another in the most memorable ways possible.

Lily looked out the window. The sun was lighting up the whole room with its warmth and brilliant shine. The flowers were blooming. Lilies were blossoming in the garden in a rainbow of shades. Daisies and buttercups winked in the sun, and tulips bathed in the glow.

She looked at her left hand and smiled. The diamond ring seemed more beautiful in the light than it had been last night, when he first gave it to her.

She felt warm hands circling her waste and enveloping her into a tight embrace. "Good morning Lily."

"Good morning James."

"I'm glad you like your ring." He winked.

"I'm glad too."

The joys of life seemed to be growing exponentially with each passing day.

And with each passing day, Lily Evans was getting closer and closer to becoming Lily Potter.
