Summary: Every spring he remembers of the deceased kunochi who had stolen his heart

Small pink petals float softly to the ground.

Giving a soft fragrance to the air, and yet to him it only reminded him of her. Cherry blossoms have always symbolized her.
She was a girl who wore her heart on her sleeve, and he supposes that is how she was casted as a nukenin by her brother and the rest of her clan. After all she did leave the clan in search of her older brother, and it was the older brother she loved so dearly who ended her life.

Even now he can recall her kneeling down on the ground in front of her brother waiting for him to execute her. Sword moving towards his neck and it was only a matter of seconds before her head was rolling down. He had been powerless to stop the execution.
Things have been tense between him and Hayate since then, and neither of them had made any attempt to repair their broken friendship.

A small pink petal floats into his open hand but despite the fact the small pink blossoms remind him of his former lover tragic ending. They also remind him of happier times with the female kunochi or semi happier at least.

He doubts that Kasumi could have been truly happy with her siblings and former clan wanting her life, but in the few years they spent together on the run. She would smile and thank him repeatedly for being by her side when everyone else pretty much left her. She even apologized to him for ruining his friendship with Hayate.

It was during that time he realized his feelings for her, and he supposes his feelings for her had partially to do with him protecting her. Along with the fact he did promise Hayate to protect Kasumi when they were younger.

He can still remember his lips pressed against hers in a passionate kiss. Hands roaming each other's naked bodies as they made love with the rain falling outside the small room they had been staying in.

They had even talked about going to China, Germany even the United States. A part of him wonders if Kasumi would still be alive if they did manage to go to a different country, but there is no point in musing on what ifs.

He allows the small petal to float away in the soft spring breeze joining the rest of the pink blossoms and for one brief moment he thought he could hear her speaking softly in the wind.

I will always love you Ryu.

With that thought in mind he disappears knowing the green leaves surrounding his form will mix with the pink petals.
