If there's one thing I will say about the universe, it is this. It's fantastic. Like an addiction. Once you're in it's hard to get out without there being an after affect. The after-affect for me was Torchwood. The secret clique that protects earth in Wales. A band of humans who risk their lives everyday to protect you everyday citizens at home, watching television. Living your lives. Not to know of the horrors that we face off with, the amazing creatures we have seen and the terrible ones. You never forget that.
I was ignorant until I met the Doctor. You never loose the lessons he teaches you and you never forget the things you see that astound you, bewilder you, enchant you. Destroy you. Yes, it is dangerous. I should know. But believe me, it's worth the destruction, the death, just to get a taste of the Doctor's life that is so enriching, but so tragic, it's tantalising. The adrenaline that burns through you like a thrill, a wild fire, a river of pleasure but a delight that comes with it's disasters as does everything too good to be true. Or too good to ever to be a part of.
You loose people. You give up so much to be apart of the wide universe because it isn't going to let you get away with the seeing it's vast splendour without getting something in return. The universe takes lives. No matter how hard you try you will pay for following your desires. Some things are better left untouched, unseen if you do not wish to loose something precious in return. Sometimes, it's your own life.
Overall, I'll say the universe is brilliant. It can enrich you, enlighten you, open you up to the lives of others, other beings and cultures and the wonderful unseen life that watches us tiny unknowing humans. But you will never get away from it. You will never be able to run far enough away to escape the horror's that you encounter in return for the wonder. The friends you loose, your personal losses…your own life?

The universe has a high price. Only enter if you are willing to pay.
