Ryou was a boy who could stop the world with a look. But he wasn't proud, or selfish, or mean in any way, because that just wasn't Ryou.

Not that they knew this, of course.

They could have learned to notice his little ways, of course, but they chose not to, because Ryou was simple and plain and always the same and that didn't fit into their perfectly organized little lives.

And Shizuka knew this, because she noticed even the tiny little details simply because they didn't. And she was fine with that, because it meant she finally had something all to herself that they couldn't touch, even if they wanted to.

And Shizuka noticed Ryou and his ways of stopping the world with a simple look, and she fell in love with that look.

Ryou was a boy who was broken, and Shizuka loved to fix things. She loved fixing people the most, because that job was never, ever done.

She knew this, because she noticed the little things, like Katsuya still occasionally grabbing a sweet when he was feeling bad, or like Anzu still glancing longingly at the kitchen knives every now and again, or Mokuba sometimes breaking something just to get some attention.

Shizuka noticed how his broken eyes surveyed the world and she knew how much she wanted to fix him.

It was almost an obsession, really, but she didn't care, because that was the only thing she didn't notice.

Ryou could stop the world with one look, one glance with his broken brown eyes, but maybe the world only stopped for Shizuka.

Not that she really minded.

Shizuka loved it when he made the world stop for her, maybe because she didn't ever, ever want to get off.
