On reaping day, when they called that boy's name, he volunteered. Why? He and I had been training partners for five years. He knew me. He didn't want some random jerk going into the games with me. He wanted to keep me safe for as long as possible.

Honestly: Cato does show fear.
Kneeling over someone as they're dying, begging them to stay with you… that's not fear? If Cato wasn't afraid of anything, then why did he care about one small bit of the games dying in his arms?

Honestly: There are so many sides to Cato.
I mean, there are so many sides to everyone! Glimmer, the perfect doll, couldn't stand the dark! Marvel, the jokester, his father died when he was seven! I used to scream whenever I saw a bee's nest or a snake! Cato- Cato used to get the Enobaria gold bracelets that his parents forged. He helped clean up the camouflage station when training was over. He never really was a mean kid.
There are angles that we all play to protect the people that we love. They might not be pretty, they might not be romantic, but changing yourself to keep someone alive is pretty damn amazing.
