"Who's that?"

His companion looked up at the scene, scanning to find out where the object of interest was, and immediately began to protest.

"No no! You stay away from her!"

"I just want to know her name." the frost bitten companion asked.

"As your complete opposite, you going near her will be nothing but trouble."

"Summer, is she?" Jack asked, but as he examined her closer, he was wrong. "She's a spring fairy."

"Not a fairy, the fairy. And you are not to go near her because she helps me with preparations, which means you can't get in the way!" Bunnymund argued.

"Still holding on to that grudge?" Jack joked. Bunnymund was nowhere near amused. "Fine. But you don't have to babysit me. I'll keep my distance."

As the Easter Bunny gave him one last look. he summoned a tunnel and disappeared. Jack waited a couple moments as he remained hidden in the bushes, watching the Spring Fairy tend to the trees and flowers, helping them prepare for the upcoming warm weather. The situation before him was one he couldn't ignore, being the Guardian of Fun and all, so as she had her back turned to him, he crept up behind her and waited to surprise her; yet it would be he who would be caught off guard.

"Stop!" she shouted at him without even having to turn around.

"I wasn't going to hurt you, I promise!"

"Not me. You're freezing my flowers!" she swiftly turned around and tended to the flower that was just under his hovering foot that emanated a harsh chill.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I'm-"

"Jack Frost. I know." The fairy responded, clearly unimpressed.

"No surprise I have some popularity among the seasonal guardians." he replied. She could only roll her eyes. "I just wanted to come by, you know, so we can formally meet."

"Why is that so important?"

"To quell any curiosities you have about me."

"There are no curiosities. You're just a mischievous guardian who doesn't know when enough is enough."

"You just wish you could be as fun as I am. If you know so much about me, then what's your story?"

"As fun as you? Please, I'm fun! I'm the one who brings the sunshine and warmth back from your nasty winters and allowing the kids to shed the layers once again."

"Yeah, you know what else you bring? Allergies. And endless rain that cancels all the fun activities kids do outside.

"Oh yeah, because dancing in the rain is so boring. Jack, you just don't see the romantic side of it."

He recoiled a bit. It's not that he was offended, but what she had said just made him seem really childish. They looked about the same age, but there was a chance that he was even older than she was. He was definitely a guardian longer, which definitely made him more superior of the two.

"I know romantic." he said in a lower tone.

"Oh yeah? That's not what Tooth told me..."

"What did she tell you?" nervousness clear in his tone.

"Doesn't matter. Anyway, I have a job to do. Yours is probably somewhere on the other side of the world so hop to it."

"You've been around the bunny too long." Jack joked. She didn't respond, but her eyes admitted that she found it quite funny. "Can I at least know your name, so I can give a proper goodbye?"

"It's Maya."

"Like the month of May, when the flowers are in full bloom, no wonder they're so beautiful."

The last comment earned the surprise he was hoping for. Her eyes became alert and he noticed a warm glow to her cheeks. A snowflake formed on the tip of his finger, and he gave it a small blow, letting it float in the air and gently land on Maya's cheek. Her features softened as a smile appeared on her face. He replied with a triumphant smirk, and left with a soft breeze into the depths of the forest still covered in frost.
