"How could you be so cruel?" Lily screamed at James. "Severus was just sitting there minding his own business!"
"He deserved it! Slimy git!" James sneered towards the cowering young boy in Lily's arms.
"I swear, I don't know why you think you are so much better than everybody else, but one of these days you're going to get your comeuppance." Having spoken her mind, Lily gently pushed Severus towards the hospital wing, leaving James and the rest of his group behind.
"I don't think I've ever seen her that mad before," Remus stated. "You really impressed her with that one."
"Oh shut up Moony! You just wait, one of these days I'm going to marry that girl." James nodded in confidence then stalked off.
"Lily, wait up!" James started sprinting, a big, goofy grin on his face. "How are you today love?"
Lily smiled widely before answering, "Hey James. I'm just headed to the library to finish my potions essay. Do you want to go with me?"
"I completely forgot about that," James groaned. "Will you help me?"
"Sure will, but you're doing all of the work mister!" Lily teased James as they entered the library.
Several hours later James sat back and sighed in relief. "Thank Merlin I finally finished! Now shouldn't I be rewarded?" He pretended to pout until Lily, laughing, kissed him.
"Your reward kind sir," she said demurely.
"And what a sweet reward it was my lady!" The two young lovers giggled and headed towards their common rooms, not seeing the greasy haired boy sitting solemnly in the corner.
"Lily Evans how could you do this to me," Severus whispered as, dodging Madam Pince, he headed deeper into the stacks sobbing quietly.
