Gently fastening her white angel wings pendant around her neck, she laid in her bed to hopefully get some sleep. She began to toss and turn violently within the first two hours of being asleep.
Desperately trying to find a way to save herself from the nightmare she was experiencing, she opened her eyes as quick as she could, and stared in horror at what she saw.
All around her was the battlefield that she had fought on so many times with her fellow Elyos, and the same battlefield where she lost the person who meant the most to her; her twin sister.
Bodies with white and black feathers laid everywhere, covered in blood and wounds. In front of her stood a mirror image of herself, the same amethyst-purple eyes that reflected the sadness she had endured. The only difference was the wings of darkness that she carried.
She quickly drew her harp, standing in attack formation, just as her doppleganger did the same.
"Who are you?" she demanded. Glancing to the object around her neck, she saw the same pendant that matched hers, only the wings were black.
"I am you, Karesa. The hardships you face in this life, I face in my life as well. I am the Asmodian-born you." she replied.
Karesa shook her head. "I refuse to believe you. If you're supposedly me, then tell me something that I have had to deal with.".
"You lost your sister, Lennia, during the War of the Ascension. She was the only one who truly understood you. Her memory still remains in your heart. That's why in the jewelry box next to your bed, is the pendant she wore the day she died."
Her eyes closed at the mention of her deceased twin's name.
"Lennia was the only one who stayed by my side, even up to her death." she muttered as a tear silently rolled down her face.
Her mirror image stepped forward and gently placed her hand over the pendant she wore around her neck, changing the necklace to a set of silver wings.
"May the rest of your dream be peaceful. Embrace the self that has been given to you." she said gently as she disappeared.
She woke up gasping for breath as she looked at her pendant, and realized that her pendant had indeed changed. She was now reborn as an elyos with the silver wings.
