Love Prevails
A mother with red hair held her son in her arms. Her husband walked into the nursery and she turned to him.
"Oh, James can you believe Harry is almost a year old?!"
"He has your beautiful green eyes," James smiled at her "Lily are you okay?" He asked as Lily place Harry back in his crib.
"Are you sure we'll be safe?" Her eyes filled with worry.
"Absolutely! I have faith in him." Lily played with the chain around her neck. "I still find it adorable that you touch my heart when you're nervous or anxious or worried."
"James, something doesn't feel right."
"What do you mean?"
"I have this strange and bad feeling that something wakeful is going to happen tonight." James took Lilly's hand and pulled her closer. He wiped away her tears of panic and fear.
"Lily, I know you're worried he'll find us, but he won't. Have faith." She looked into his eyes. She knew James was right. She buried her face in James' chest and began to cry. " do you remember the day I gave you this?"
"I do. It was right before exams of our Sixth year." Lily said wrapping the heart in her palm as she looked at him.
"You remember what I told you, right?" He raised his eye brows and smirked. She nodded and smiled.
"You said that I will feel no pain just the warmth of your love whenever I wear it."
"Correct, and it will always be true. Always." Lily smiled more and wiped away her tears. A loud noise came from outside. It sounded like a spell being broken.
"What was that?!" Lily shout as James ran to the window.
"Bloody hell! Lily, hide yourself and Harry!" He ran up to her kissed her passionately and ran off. Lily turned to the trunk in the corner if the room. She frantically search the trunk for the invisibility cloak.
"Dumbledore has it!" She heard the dying scream of James. His scram woke up the sleeping Harry. Lilly's shaking hands went to the clasp of the chain. She undid it and placed it on Harry. The door blew open. she spun around trying to hide the fear on her face when she saw the Dark Lord.
"Well if it isn't Lily Potter... Oh and little baby Potter." He hissed pointing his wand at Harry.
"No! Please not Harry!"
"Out of my way women! Or do you want to join your husband?" He spat at her.
"Please! Harry is just a baby!"
"Have it your way." He gave a twisted smile as a green light flashed. Voldemort walked up to the crib tossing Lily's body out of his way. "Hello little Harry. I am Lord Voldemort. I am now going to kill you." He pointed his wand and another green light flashed. "No!" Voldemort shouted in pain.
A man with dark greasy hair wondered into the room. He saw Lily's body and heard Harry crying. He ran over to soothe Harry.
"how did you survive? You'll have a nasty scar.p, but you also have your mothers eyes." A tear formed in the man's eye. He noticed the blacked chain lying on top of Harry. "This was Lily's! James charmed it and gave it to her. She just died for you." He looked down at him. "You will never know your parents but their love just saved your life." He walked over to Lily's body. Took the lily out of his pocket and tucked it in her hair. "You gave that to me years ago... I, Severus Snape, have always loved and will never stop loving Lily Evens Potter." He slid her eyes closed the disappeared.
