The world had already descended into chaos. When Eggman appeared with his armies, and no one was there to stop him - not even 'our beloved Sonic' - the almost entire planet fell easily. I was another one of the masses following his every order, just doing their best to survive, but then one of my stupid friends got out of line.

There had already been rumors of a resistance building, and that our town was their base, so we, as a village, were already teetering on the edge of oblivion. Then, Sarafina, a purple deer, suddenly smacked her tray on the lunch table (we're sophomores) and shouted "I'm done with this shit!" Before leaping onto the nearest sentry bot and attacking. As if by instinct, most of the other creatures surrounding us jumped on the robots too.

It was exhilarating, the fight. Shortly after Sarafina attacked, I joined her, not wanting her to go down alone. Afterwards we, along with the other high schoolers, paraded through the town, like a band of drunken or young warriors, assaulting every robot in sight. Not a single adult stopped us, and some, typically young adults, joined us.

After our outburst, the town began to prepare for troops to invade. Despite the overwhelming amount of fear we all felt, we couldn't help but feel as if what we were doing was right. The idea of the resistance quartering in our town in secret was no longer just a rumor. It was a fact. We were the resistance.

We began hearing news of other towns joining in the fight, charging robot assembling facilities, attacking bots, and, well, resisting. I felt hope. I thought that this would be just another one of Eggman's short reigns and life would return to normal. And, hey, maybe we wouldn't need Sonic after this. Maybe we might've learned how to protect ourselves, and the 'Eggman era' would be over.

If only that were true.
