Akko ran a few meters ahead of Diana, arms spread wide. Oh, how she enjoyed Luna Nova in the fall! The orange of the trees reminded her of home; though Europe's forests seemed a tad bit more welcoming. The nice sound of gravel and leaves below their shoes was also curiously entrancing.
She turned around mid-run, walking backwards now to face Diana.
"Diana~" she teased. "We should do stuff like this more! We can go into t-"
Akko's sentence was interrupted as she tripped over a log. Diana gasped, a hand over her mouth, as she jolted forward. The brunette, though, was giggling on the ground, having displaced a pile of leaves into the air.
"It's so cool in the forest! But let's go into town next time," she finished, a leaf landing in her mouth before she spat it out.
Diana sighed in exasperation at how Akko seemed to not even acknowledge her fall, and helped the brunette up. "Also, I think I have a concussion," Akko added. There was the acknowledgement.
The blonde shook her head with a quiet laugh, making Akko grin with a strong sense of accomplishment. It wasn't easy to get her girlfriend to laugh (especially if there were other people around).
The energetic brunette calmed down, her hand brushing Diana's teal jacket. It was soft, but Akko didn't care much about the texture of the jacket.
Her fingers brushed against Diana's knuckles, silently asking them to open her fist. As they obliged, the two girls' hands interlocked, Akko grinning all the while in quiet glee.
Diana was refraining from making any eye contact, twirling a finger from her free hand in one of the strands of her hair. Akko could make out a slight tinge of pink from the girl's cheeks.
Akko giggled one more time, before swaying their arms together and pulling as she began walking again.
"Hey, Diana… do you go trick-or-treating?"
She didn't look away from the tops of the trees, but she did mumble in acknowledgement to Akko's question. "Trick-or-treating?" She thought for a moment. "No, I've never gone… At least not in recent memory. But I'm familiar with the concept, yeah."
The Japanese girl nodded. "Oh, ok. It's not really a thing in Japan, so I was wondering if I'm able to go this time… Y'know," she paused, shyly scratching at her cheek, "With you…?"
Diana's face grew into a smile. It was always the sentimental stuff that got Akko riled up, especially when it was in situations with no pressure or no stakes.
"Of course," Diana answered, a soft welcoming tone in her voice. Akko's face was beet red, before she looked away.
"Cool beans!" she shouted, raising her hands (and Diana's left hand) up into the sky with a hoorah. "Let's go to Blytonbury," she immediately followed, butchering the pronunciation. "I wanna walk around with Diana!"
Diana obliged, following Akko for a few steps, before yanking at the brunette's arm to lead her in the right direction. Towards a leyline.
