When I see your smile

tears roll down my face I can't replace

and now that I'm strong I have figured out

how this world turns cold and it breaks through my soul

and I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one

Mick St. John entered Beth's apartment through the window on the balcony. The whole apartment was pitch black, no lights were on. Well, that didn't really matter to him, he could see perfectly in the dark. He was a vampire after all. He could sense her in the room, well, it was that and he could hear someone crying from behind the couch. He walked towards the sound and saw her. Beth Turner. One of the bravest people he knew, laying on the hard wooden floor, crying. A blanket covered her and she had a pile of tissues at her side.

"Beth?" He whispered. She slowly looked up at him, not bothering to move from her current position.

"What the hell do you want?" She sniffled.

"I came to see if you were okay? Are you? Okay?" He asked, concern and worry in his eyes. She shot up to a sitting position. He could hear her heart beat quicken. Uh oh, this was not good.

"Do I look like I'm okay?" She snapped at him. "I just lost the love of my life for Christ sake!" She started crying again. "You," she looked at him. "You could have saved him. You could have turned him." Mick shook his head vigorously.

I will never let you fall (let you fall)

I'll stand up with you forever

I'll be there for you through it all (through it all)

Even if saving you sends me to heaven

"You're right. I could have. But I wouldn't. Don't you get it Beth?! I hate being a vampire. To me it's just not as bad if not worse than dying. It's a curse! I would not, absolutely would not, do the same thing to someone else. Especially Josh!" He raised his voice at the end. "He deserves better."

Beth just sat there, shaking her head, back and forth.

"What about me?" She whispered. "I loved him, so much, and then he gets taken away from me, just like that? I can't live without him. I need him." She mumbled through her tears.

Mick was speechless. He didn't know what else to say. Should he tell her that he's been in love with her since the first time he saved her from Coraline? No, that was gross and wrong. She needed some time. Maybe when things got better and she moved on then he would say something about it. Right now she just needed some space, perhaps a lot of space. But Mick would still keep his promise to Josh. He would take care of her, and protect her, no matter what.

It's okay. It's okay. It's okay.

Seasons are changing

and waves are crashing

and stars are falling all for us

Days grow longer and nights grow shorter

I can show you I'll be the one

"Fine, if you want to be pissed at me, go ahead. But just remember this...I don't like seeing you like this. I don't like you being mad at me for doing the right thing. If you ever need anyone to talk to or even to smack around, to get rid of some anger. I'm always here." He said softly, gently wiping away a tear that was making its way down her cheek.

Use me as you will

pull my strings just for a thrill

and I know I'll be okay

though my skies are turning grey

"I just don't want to lose you too..." He mumbled. "I made a promise to Josh that I'd protect you and keep you safe. I will not break that promise." He said a little louder so she could hear him.

After a couple of minutes of silence, Mick got up from his kneeling position and made his way to the door.

"You won't lose me." Beth whispered when he walked out the door. She thought that he didn't hear her, but he did. He was a vampire after all.

I will never let you fall

I'll stand up with you forever

I'll be there for you through it all

Even if saving you sends me to Heaven
