Bolin walked down the street trailed by his little pet, Pabu. Mako walked along side him and gave a sigh. Bolin looked at his brother with a sigh.
"I want to talk about you and Asami." He mumbled. Mako groaned.
"No Bo, Not now."
"You're an idiot." He stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and glared at his brother. Mako blinked. His brother had never been this serious with name callings…or serious topics, ever.
"I'm an idiot how, Bo?" He asked cautiously. He shifted his scarf slightly, the red material blowing with the wind. He tried to pull Bolin aside, but the younger boy wouldn't move.
"Sure, Asami's nice, but I don't think your relationship is really going to go anywhere. You don't love her like you do Korra."
"I don't like Korra that way Bolin! Just drop it, ok?"
"No!" Bolin yelled. He clenched his fists tightly making his fire ferret scramble to hide in a nearby bush. "You're an idiot if you believe that shit!" Bolin yelled. Mako blinked at the sudden maturity he saw in his baby brother.
"Bo…"
"Korra loves you, you love her. Not like you love me, but more. Why are you blind to it? Why can't you see how much you both care about each other? Are you really that naive and blind? Even I see it, and I'm me!" He ran a hand through his hair. "Mako, you need to grow up and go to Korra, because she needs you and you need her. I see you thrash at night….I know you have nightmares and Asami isn't helping them. If anything your nightmares have gotten worse. But with Korra…your mind is preoccupied and you only look to her. You forget your troubles and I see how happy you are, even if you act annoyed or mad….I know you smile when she looks away. She's the best thing to happen to us in a long time." Bolin looked at his older brother and swallowed when he saw a stunned face looking at him.
Mako took in Bolin's words slowly. When did the young earth bender get so smart? He looked down and slowly nodded.
"you're right Bo," He said quietly. "But what can I do? I can't just-"
"Shut up and go to her, dummy," Bo said. Mako looked up and slowly smiled. He nodded and ran off eagerly to find the avatar. Bo watched from a distance as Mako took the confused girl into his arms and kissed her deeply. He watched as Korra kissed back passionately and wrapped her arms around the firebender's neck. He smiled as the two broke and pressed their foreheads together to share words Bo couldn't hear.
Bolin was happy for his brother. He smiled when the two looked at him. He turned and looked down sadly. He was happy for the two, he truly was, but there was still a part of him that grew only sadder when he saw the two. He wanted what they had. He shrugged it off.
"Oh well…at least I have you, Pabu." The little creature poked its head out of the bush and chattered at his loving owner. He scurried up Bolin's shoulder and cuddled close as he walked away from the new couple and towards the horizon.
