just a sip--

why the rum is always gone
o1. after a long day of pirating and metaphorical harharhars (jack sparrow is too much of a captain to harharhar out loud) he needs some way of relaxing, and rum does the trick.

o2. sometimes he remembers the image of her, falling, falling, down through the water, her beautiful white throat slipping through the ruffles, and, simultaneously, the image of her kissing him, and jack sparrow knows he will never be him.

o3. he likes to bet that he can drink more than anyone else he meets, and he can, he just drinks them right under the table.

o4. jack sparrow has no time for medicine, and besides, drinks have very medicinal properties.

o5. rum makes him a little more courageous, because although everyone he knows thinks he's rather the most courageous pirate to ever sail the seas, he's really a coward at heart, and that was all bravado.

o6. the taste of it is sweet, and dark, and just tangy enough to remind him of all the things he used to know, loneliness, women's flesh, and the faint scent of blood on the air.

o7. pirates, jack sparrow thinks, must always be drunk.

o8. he propositions a 'marriahjj' and then that night he wakes up from dreams of a wedding night, and he has to practically drown himself in alcohol to keep from going crazy with want.

o9. rum, when taken in large portions, can help you ignore the fact that your beloved, beautiful ship has been stolen by the scum of the sea and his crew, and the one woman who you might possibly want for things other than her body (which is simply an extra bonus, of course) is in love with the only man who can help you get where you need to go in order to retrieve said ship… rum, rum, rum.

1o. jack sparrow loves rum.

argh times twelve. I wanted to write something past twenty reasons, but I ran out of inspiration at o5. so, um, there.
