Summary: AU: Set to the song On My Own from Les Misérables. Mimi has feelings for Roger, but he doesn't feel that way about her. MM/RD. RD/AE.

Mimi sighed as she walked the streets of New York. She knew that it was dangerous to be out and about at this time of night, but she didn't care.
Drawing her shawl closer to her, she began to walk down the street. The stars shown brightly in the heavens, making the sky glow brighter.
She knew that Roger loved April, but she would always love him, no matter what.
"And now I'm all alone again
Nowhere to turn, no one to go to
Without a home without a friend
Without a face to say hello to
And now the night is near
I can make believe he's here." Mimi crooned, sighing.
Making a motion that she was holding an invisible hand, she continued to walk.
"Sometimes I walk alone at night
When everybody else is sleeping

But only on my own." Mimi whispered, climbing the stairs to her loft and closed the door behind her.

The next morning, Mimi was heading out her door when she saw Roger and April kissing in the park. Feeling hot tears stream down her cheeks, Mimi started to run away from them when she was shot and killed in the street. Roger didn't even look to see what had happened. He had been lost in April's eyes and didn't dare to look away from her.
I love him, but only on my own.
