Warning: Death of two Beloved Heroes

Ryder's POV:

It has been two years since that mission, causing the death of two beloved pups. We received a call from the depths of Foggybottom saying someone was in a near-death situation. We arrived as fast as we can to only realize, it was a trap.

I parked my ATV on the grass as all of the pup's trucks and vehicles arrived too all except for one certain canine pilot. "Skye did you detect the caller?" I spoke through my watch.

Short silence was followed until the cockapoo replied, "I believe so, Ryder. I saw a man in a black cloak running into the forest. He seemed frightened."

I looked the police car beside me. "Chase, track down that man with your spy drone." I commanded.

Chase nodded and hopped to the back of his truck, "Ruff! Drone launch!" At that second, a swift blue and neon green drone flew out of Chase's vehicle. "Search for the man in black!" Chase ordered as it zoomed into the thick forest. I walked to Chase's side and watched the monitor. The drone's camera dodged multiple trees until it found the man Skye spoke of previously. "There he is!"

I sat on my ATV and sent the drone's tracker to the rest of the pups. "Follow that drone!" We raced into the cloud of trees tracking down the drone which is following the man who we suspect the caller from before.

After about a few minutes, the drone's destination was shut down. "What on earth?" I whispered. We drove a little further to a dark cave upfront where Chase's drone was smashed like a dinosaur just stepped on it. I bent down to analyze it, "This doesn't look like an accident."

The pups parked next to my ATV and we gazed into the dark cave in front echoing as if it's trying to reel us in. Rubble was about to take a step forward but I held out my in front of him signaling Rubble to stop. "Wait, it could be a trap." I looked behind at my pups with a serious stare, "Stick together everyone."

"Ruff, flashlight." Chase whispered as a bright light filled the dark cave. Taking few steps in, we ventured into the cave looking for a ping on the callers destination.

I slapped my watch as it began to glitch. "Ugh, work!" No matter how many times I bang it, it doesn't do any good.

The seven of us started to walked further, all seemed quiet until I may or not have accidentally stepped on a snake's tail angering it hissing at us. We yelled in terror unbeknownst to the fact we were making such a loud sound and Skye jumped into my arms as the snake tried to bite her and me. Luckily, Marshall and Zuma was able to grab the snake by it's tail and threw it away.

It stick its tongue at us and slithered away. We took a deep breath of relief and smiled at Skye burying her bed into my chest, "It's okay Skye. It's gone now." She lifted her head off my body for me to notice small salty tears falling from her magenta eyes leaping onto ground.

We continued to look for the caller but heard little whimpers from behind. I turned to see Skye crying and lagging behind the team. I was about to up to the frightened cockatoo until Chase walked right past me. "I got this Ryder." I shook my head and watched the german shepherd make his move.

Chase began walk to Skye and bent down with a worried face. "Are you okay Skye?" He asked. Skye nodded. "Do you need to go outside or.."

"I'm alright Chase, I am, really. Just a bit shaken up." Skye interrupted wiping her eyes standing up.

"Well don't worry. The snake is gone and the Skye I know is very brave and willing to help anyone." Skye smiled at Chase's complement. and nuzzled his cheek with her head causing the police pup to blush cherry pink.

"Wait here." Skye obeyed and stood where she was as Chase ran in my direction and took out a small magenta ribbon decorated with silver lining from my pocket and ran back to Skye.

"Chase what are you?"

"Hold still." Chase bit the ribbon and raised his head high somehow tying the ribbon onto Skye's fur like a little bow. Skye stared at it in awe. "I was supposed to give it to you after the mission, but I figured you need a little luck. What do you think?"

"It's beautiful." and she nuzzled his cheek with her head causing the police pup to blush cherry pink. I couldn't help but smile. I always knew Chase cared for the high flying pilot besides without him, Skye would be stuck in the rain shivering.

But we have a mission to finish. "Hey pups! We must hurry." Chase and Skye looked at each other one last time and caught up with the rest of the pups.

"Hmm. It seems a little quiet don't you think?" Rocky asked. Everyone nodded in agreement. Including me.

Then right at that second loud clicks were heard from the walls. I gasped in realization, "It's a trap! Run!" The pups started to run the other direction but two of them were trapped in metal cages. "Marshall! Chase!"

"Ryder!" They cried scratching the iron bars in hopes it will set them free. "Help us!" All of a sudden, torches hidden in the darkness lit up the cave.

"Muahahaha!" Oh no. I'd recognize that laugh anywhere. "You foolish kids!" Then the cloaked figure Skye saw before walked into the light. The man took off the hood to reveal...

"Mayor Hummdinger!" We all barked at the vicious mayor of Foggybottom.

"Yes it is I Paw Patrol! And I see you have fell into my trap. Or at least two of you." The mayor boomed followed by a maniacal laugh. He snapped his fingers, "Kitties, bring in the machine!"

And out of the blue, the cats dressed up like us, walks don't with a big blue machine with about a thousand buttons, three screens, two green glass tubes connected to the machine by wires, and a large crystal ball on the top. I growled at the sight worried for my first two pups, "Release them Hummdinger!"

The pups barked in agreement, "Yeah! Let them go!" Zuma yelled.

The mayor laughed, "Where the fun in that? Besides, you'll get them back...after a small change!"

Marshall and Chase looked at each other worried, "What are you going to do with us?" Marshall asked.

"It's a surprise, and don't worry not won't hurt...much." The two dogs winced in fear as the mayor barked more commands. "Kitties! Begin Project Shifter. And Paw Patrol, be good pups and stay."

Hummdinger shoved Chase and Marshall into the tubes buckling them onto black straps closing the tubes.

I growled at him ready to run at him and tackle the mayor to the ground if only a bunch of wannabe Paw Patrol kitties kept me from doing just that. "You won't get away with this."

Hummdinger smirked evilly as his hands were inches away from a big red button. "I just did."

My eyes were widened to the size of saucered filled with fear as the mayor was seconds to press that button. But I felt a little wind speed past me and Mayor Hummdinger winced in pain. "Hey get off me you mutt!"

"Skye!"

"Let go of my friends!" She charged Humminger again and rammed into his stomach shoving him onto the ground.

Chase and Marshall placed paws on the glass worried for the cockapoo. "Skye! What are you doing!?" Chase yelled.

Skye leapt on top of the machine scanning the buttons and looked at back at the two. "Saving your life." She pressed a small white button and the glass tubes opened. She leapt down trying to unbuckle Chase's straps. "Pups! Don't just stand there help me!

I looked down to my pups, "You heard her! Let's roll!" We started to run towards the machine ready to help Skye to unbuckle Marshall and Chase but kitty Chase threw his net on us. "Hey! Let us go!" The pups started to bite on the net.

Skye, on the the other hand, bit into Chase's black buckle snapping it in half releasing the German Shepherd. He jumped down and looked at her, "When I said you are brave this is not what I was thinking." He chuckled.

Skye giggled, "Right now help me with Marshall." Chase nodded and leapt up to Marshall's torso.

"Hey Chase! How's it hanging? The dally jokes.

Chase rolled his eyes in amusement, "Whatever Marshall. Now let's get you out of here." Chase bit into the buckle and tugged on it as hard as he can. "Ugh! It's stuck!"

I noticed the struggle in his eyes. "Don't worry Chase!" I grunted trying to rip the net. "Rocky use you scissors!"

"Ruff! Scissors!" And out came a pair of yellow and orange scissor blades trying to cut through the cat's net.

Skye looked right towards us worried, "I'll help!" She started to run towards us but Mayor Hummdinger came from behind her.

Grabbed her collar suspending the cockapoo in midair. "Not so fast pup!"

"Skye!" Myself, Marshall and Chase yelled in fear. Chase back away from Marshall's tube and bit the Mayor's leg. "Let her go!" Chase mumbled with Hummdinger's leg in his mouth.

"Rocky! Hurry!" I yelled at the recycling pup.

"I'm trying! Get off me kitties!" The mixed breed barked as he kicked the mayor's kitty crew trying to prevent Rocky from cutting the net.

While the pups and I try to help Rocky, Hummdinger kicked Chase off his foot across the room then shoving Skye into Chase's green tube. The cockapoo and the dally placed their paws on the green dyed glass banging on it as hard as they can.

"Help!" "Let us out!" They cried.

"No more playing around!" He placed his palm on the button ready to press it. "You're finished Paw Patrol!"

"No!" I yelled struggling to stand with the net over my body.

But I was too late, Hummdinger slammed his hand on the button and suddenly the crystal ball on the top started to glow bright blue as Hummdinger laughed evilly.

The pups, including the ones in the green tubes, and I gasped in fear but then the ball started to spit tiny flares of electricity. Hummdinger stopped laughing. "Uh, that's not supposed to happen."

The ball started to spin rapidly shoot bolts of electricity at us and Skye and Marshall started yelling in pain. "Turn it off!" I yelled at the mayor.

"I trying!" Hummdinger pressed the button multiple times. Nothing. "Why on earth isn't it opening!"

The pups and I ran behind a few boulders trying to hide from the electricity. "We have to get them out Wyder!" Zuma yelled through the sparks flying around the cave.

We nodded in agreement and rushed out behind the rock. I grabbed a pipe and started to to bang the glass. The pups joined in trying to either scratch it or ram into it. After a few tries, cracks started to appear. "Good job pups! We're making process!"

"Hurry Ryder!" Skye yelled followed by more screams of pain from the two dogs.

The cracks started to spread and I raised the pipe ready to hit it as hard as we can. "One more!" I swung the pipe as hard as I can but a hand grabbed it before it can crash into the breaking glass. "Mayor Hummdinger! What are you doing?!"

He pulled the metal pipe out of my hands and threw it to the side. "No time! You need to get out of here now!" The mayor barked.

"But Skye and Marshall are still in there!" Rubble pointed to the weak pups still screaming.

"Well you will have bigger problems if you don't get out of here before that machine blows." Hummdinger warned. "And you definitely do not want to break the glass!"

I was about to object. There is no way I'm leaving a pup behind, until Chase took the words right out of my mouth. "No! I'm not going to leave my best friends to die!"

Before anyone can speak, Chase started to ran towards the glass tubes to try to ram the glass but Hummdinger grabbed him. "Get your hands off me!" Chase growled trying to scratch Hummdinger's face.

Hummdinger walked up to me and shoved Chase into my arms. "Take your mutts and leave! It's better that way."

Tears started to fall from my eyes. "But Skye and Marshall..?"

"RUN!" He ordered pressing a button on a remote in his hand opening a trapdoor below us.

We started to yell as we slid down the trapdoor leading to the outside of cave. I landed on my back as the rest of the pup flew past me. "You pups alright?"

They nodded, "We're okay Ryder, but Marshall and Skye are still in there." Rocky pointed to the opening of the cave.

The pups and I stood up and stared at the cave. I squinted my eyes a bit and saw a bright green light coming from the cave. "Get down!" I ran behind a boulder and the rest of the pups hid behind their vehicles whimpering in fear. My hands covered my head trying to protect my head from anything coming at me.

The rumbling can to an end and when stood up, big boulder were blocking the entrance. Skye, Marshall and Mayor Hummdinger are trapped. "No!" I yelled running in front of the boulder. "Rubble! Use your rig to get these boulders out!"

The bulldog nodded with no question ran towards his rig and lifted the boulders out of the way. "Ruff! Flashlight!" Chase barked as his flashlight popped out of his pack. Immediately, with no command, we ran into the cave looking for a sign of life.

After hours and hours, we never gave up. Searching for our pups. We found nothing but a broken machine, shattered tubes, and a burnt purple top hat. At least Foggybottom will have a better mayor, but we still kept on moving. We moved deeper and deeper into the cave until we realized, Skye and Marshall didn't make it.

(End of Flashback)

It was unclear if Hummdinger survived or not but those patches of dalmation and cockapoo fur and the broken pup tags, we were all too scared to admit that we lost two of our greatest members.

The pups didn't take this lightly and when news spread to the whole Adventure Bay, we were in great loss. Especially Everest, who never moved from her cabin unless for emergencies or missions. Makes sense.

She lost two pups who was her best friend, and her puppy crush. (It was kind of obvious) So was Chase. Everyday I hear him mumbling to sleep, blaming himself of his friends' death. It took awhile for him to get out of that phase.

Mayor Goodway assigned a funeral for Skye and Marshall but buried an empty coffin cause we couldn't find their bodies. Ever since, Foggybottom and Adventure Bay has been rivals. Blaming one for the death of their Mayor, and blaming the other for the death of two of their heroes.

Although it seems to be Hummdinger's fault, I blame myself for letting two if my pups die. I will never make that mistake twice.

How is it so far? Sorry it was so depressing, but things will get better. No one can take Skye and Marshall from our hearts.

R.I.P Skye and Marshall
