AN: For the Disney Character Competition.

Bambi's Mother; Write about a character whose death saddened you.

Fred was with Percy when the Death Eaters attacked, Percy had been apologising for being a prat for the last five minutes and Fred had finally accepted it. He was a little worried how Percy would react, but as Fred looked round he saw him fighting alongside him. Although he and Percy had made amends, he found himself wishing it was George with him; he didn't like doing anything this important without him. The last time they'd been apart George had got his ear blown off. Despite both being rather advanced wizards, Fred and Percy were almost being overpowered by the Death Eaters.

Luckily Harry, Ron and Hermione rounded the corner and ran over to help. It quickly became apparent that they were more powerful than the two Death Eaters and the one battling Percy backed off at a rather fast pace. As he did this his hood slipped showing them a high forehead and streaked hair.

"Hello, Minister!" Percy bellowed as he sent a jinx straight at Thicknesse, making him drop his wand and claw at himself in discomfort. "Did I mention I'm resigning?"

This made Fred roar with laughter, he found himself wishing George were there again to share in this moment.

"You're joking, Perce!" He shouted, sending a stunning spell at the other Death Eater. This combined with the ones Harry and Hermione had sent made him collapse next to Thicknesse, who had tiny spikes erupting over him and was starting to resemble a sea urchin. This made Fred grin, he glee evident as he looked at his brother.

"You actually are joking, Perce…" Fred laughed, he was so looking forwards to seeing his twins face when he found out that Percy made a joke. "I don't think I've heard you joke since you were –"

The air seemed to explode, cutting Fred off. He'd forgotten about the war going on in their moment of bliss. He was going to kill whoever had just ripped him out of the first good family moment he'd had since the start of the war. He saw the wall flying directly towards them, he tried to move away but the force of the explosion threw him away from where he wanted to be and into the path of another piece of wall. Looking around he felt relieved that everyone else had been blown in the other direction, he was glad they were going to be safe.

Fred knew this was going to kill him, he had landed on a jagged piece of brick which was cutting into his body and it didn't hurt. That was how he knew he was dying.

For the third time in the space of five minutes Fred found himself longing for his twin. Fred didn't want to die; not because he was afraid, but because he didn't want George to lose him. To keep himself happy in his last few moments as he saw the wall descending on him, he imagined telling George about Percy's joke. As the wall hit him, Fred had a smile on his face, pleased that he'd been on good terms with all of his family.

AN: I don't have my copy of Deathly Hallows with me so I spent 10 minutes searching the internet for this scene. I wanted it to be true to the book.

I've marked this as complete for now, but I may turn it into a collection of death fics in the future. Morbid I know, but I just want somewhere to collect them all together. I don't write death scenes often though so hopefully there won't be too many to make everyone sad.
