"Sirius! Remus!"

Peter hurried down the stone corridor. He poked his head into various classrooms along the way, looking for his two AWOL friends. He'd only taken a quick glance at the Map before heading out to try and find them. They'd said that they were going to go find somewhere to study for the upcoming Charms test, as the common room had gotten rather noisy. But Peter now wanted to get in some revision for that, and James had suggested with a grin that he go ask Sirius to see his notes.

"Sirius?"

As he came closer to the next door, he heard what sounded like voices - maybe even a worked up argument. He pushed open the door, and stepped inside. Peter's jaw dropped, and his eyes widened. He'd found them, alright. When he recovered from his shock, he scrunched up his eyes and backed out the way he came. Sirius and Remus hadn't even noticed his arrival.

Just as he had shut the door, his ears burning, a smooth voice stopped him.

"Peter, love."

He swung around hastily. It was that Slytherin girl, Black.

"What do you want?" He was proud that he managed to keep his voice from shaking.

"Heard you calling for my darling cousin. Not found him yet?" Bellatrix managed to smirk and still look innocently beguiling. He felt himself blush, and he could tell that she had seen it too - her eyes lit up. "Oh, but you have found him, haven't you!"

"He was busy. He was doing something." Peter answered then blushed some more. Merlin. Sirius was busy - doing something. Doing someone. Sirius was busy doing Moony.

"Too busy to spend time with his dear friend Peter?" She tsked sympathetically, mockingly. "That is a shame."

"He's busy." Peter felt he had to defend his friend.

"But of course he is." Bellatrix waved that off as if it were no great mattter. "They're always busy, though, aren't they? My dear cousin, and Potter, of course - but they make time for each other, they even make time for poor sickly Lupin..."

"Oh, shut up!" Peter interupted sulkily.

"Peter dearest, admit it. You know that there is something in their friendship that you don't have."

"That's not true!" Peter cried hotly.

"That you will never have." Bellatrix stepped closer. "But don't despair."

Peter snarled, though his heart was sinking. "Shut up! They're my friends."

"Don't despair." Bellatrix repeated. "There will always be those who do have time for you. Those who will look out for you, Peter."

Peter opened his mouth to reply sarcastically, but she put her finger to his lips.

"Shh. I'll talk to you later. When you're ready." Bellatrix turned and walked away.
