"What do you mean I'm not getting repaired?!" I almost screamed at the Admiral.
"The Abyssal is at our doorstep. And I am one of the last Battleships we have." I continued."
" We do not have the resources to repair you, Nagato." The Admiral replied and looked serious at me.
" But " I said but the Admiral interrupted me.
"More importantly you should go and say your goodbyes to Yamato. She will be heading out tomorrow."
"Which fleet will she take command of?" I asked.
"None. She is going alone on this mission." He replied.
"What! What type of mission is this?" I almost screamed.
"The top brass have decided to sacrifice her in order to try to slow down Abyssal advance." The Admiral replied in a low voice.
"This. This is crazy! They can not just throw her life away like that." I said.
"I agree with you Nagato. But it has already been decided. There is nothing we can do about it."
I could not say anything. What is the top brass thinking.
"You are dismissed now. Go and see Yamato before it is too late." The Admiral said and saluted.
I replied the salute and left the office.
I had to go and find Yamato.
I found Yamato at the memorial stone.
She had brought flowers. Probably for Musashi.
"Oh hi Nagato!"She said when she saw me. I could hear the worries in her voice.
I could not take it. I hugged her and said
"You can't go! "
"So you have heard about operation TG then" She said and stroked my hair.
"I can not lose you to." I said and tears started to come down my chins.
"I'm sorry." She said.
"They can not order you to do this." I said.
"Sadly they can. This war have been heavy on us both has it not." She said and hugged me hard. I could feel her hands shaking.
"But I am happy to have had you here next to me this last few years Nagato." she continued.
"Please stay" I cried.
"I can't I'm sorry. But I can stay with you tonight" She said and kissed me.
I could just nod in reply and wiped away my tears.
We let it all lose that night and gave in to one another.
Why did this have to be our last night?
Why this perfect night have to be the last?
When I woke up. Yamato was already making herself ready for the mission.
I just pretended to still be sleeping. I could not get the strength to say or do anything.
When Yamato was done she sat down on the bed and leaned over to me and said.
"I'm sorry but I have to go now. Knowing that you will live on is the only reason that I can go on this mission." She paused. It sounded like was about to cry.
"Goodbye Nagato and I love you. I will always love you." She said and kissed me on chin.
She then left the room
I love you to, I love you so much Yamato.
