AN: This is my first fic, so do not expect perfection. But I do hope you still enjoy it, because I'm having a lot of fun writing it :p
Prologue
"Dammit Korra, what's wrong with you?!" Korra whined, hitting her pillow on her face. She immediately fell silent, for she didn't want to wake anyone else up. Night had fallen on Airtemple Island, and everyone was vast asleep. Everyone except for Korra, who lay in her bed, head buried in her pillow.
The entire day had been terrible, just like the day before. Constant training, constant alerts from the press, and constant fear for the day she had to face him. What was she going to do when she faced Amon anyway? Kill him? Have him arrested? How would she beat him anyway? These were the thoughts that haunted the young Avatar day after day, and kept her awake at night. If only there was something soothing to think about, to make the nights easier to go through. Korra shut her eyes and started browsing through her head. She tried to find something that made her truly satisfied… truly happy.
"Let's see" she thought. "There's home, the Southern Water Tribe, with mom and dad… and Katara of course. There's Tenzin and Pema and their crazy kids and all the new friends I have made. Mako…Bolin… and Asami". Asami. The one she once called a prissy little rich girl… How wrong could she have been! Asami was kind, strong and so beautiful. Her green eyes, her silky black hair… Just thinking about her made butterflies flutter in her stomach. Korra felt like an idiot. These feelings were alien to her. She did not like being unsure, or confused. She was the avatar! The most powerful thing in the world! How could a person – a nonbender for that matter, have her feeling so weak?
"Having trouble sleeping?" a voice echoed in Korra's room. A voice so strange, yet so familiar. Korra sat up on her bed quickly, as if she was jolted by an electric glove. She finally saw the figure that had entered the room; a grown man with arrows on his head and a beard on his chin, wearing orange airbender attire. "Aang?" Korra wondered, looking mighty confused. "You're correct" Aang said, with a great smile on his face. "I'm here to help you with your distress". Aang patted Korra's shoulder, who shook her head in confusion. "H-how is this possible" she asked, looking up to her previous life. Aang chuckled. "Why does it matter?" he then asked. "All that matters are your Avatar problems, which I'm here to help you with". Korra felt slightly warmer inside her. Even though the situation was hard to grasp, it was neat having someone she could talk to, let alone her past life. But before she could utter a "thank you" to Aang, three more characters had been added to her room. There was an old firebender, an earthbender with dramatic facial painting, a full-grown but handsome waterbender and a middle-aged airbender woman. Korra was baffled by their presence, for she knew she had met these people before. She just didn't know where. "I decided to add some more Avatars in the mix" Aang said with excite. "Meet Roku, Kyoshi, Kuruk and Yanghcen, your most recent past lives". Korra's jaw was on the floor. This had to be the single most bizarre day in her entire life. It took Korra a long while to let this sink in. "Well, what are you waiting for?" Kuruk asked impatiently. "Appa's already waiting outside.
