"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." Zoom rolled his eyes and shifted on the infirmary bed restlessly. "I'm just ready to get out of here."

"Maybe you should stay over night." Vert frowned, arms crossed so as not to reach out and touch. "Just in case."

"Vert." The younger man reached out and gently pried his arms from their previous position until he held one of his hands in his grasp. "Sage cleared me. I'm good."

Vert held himself stiffly for a moment before remembering that he could touch- that he was allowed to now that they were- well, now that they were together. He hadn't realized just how much tension had been riding on his shoulders until he allowed himself that small respite, one hand holding Zooms tightly and the other coming up to brush carefully over the piece of fresh gauze taped just under the younger mans hair line. His stomach clenched uncomfortably at the sight of it but it was still better than earlier when there had been no gauze and only blood.

"Dude." Zoom was holding himself still, Vert realized. He was letting himself be looked over. "I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I'm good."

They were all good- they had all made it back this time. He couldn't let himself think about what ifs.

He let out a long, heavy breath of air and dropped his other hand to rest on Zooms shoulder.

"So, it looks like we won't be making our date." Not tonight at least. The clock on the wall was reading close to ten and the restaurant would be closed and the movie theatre wouldn't be open much longer and that was if he wasn't already against taking Zoom into town with a head injury.

Zoom craned his neck to look at the clock, trying to hide his wince as he did so, but Vert still caught it.

"It's only ten." He said grinning up at the blonde. "And we have tomorrow off."

"If nothing comes up."

"Right. But even if something comes up- that's tomorrow. Right now," Zoom slid off the table landing on steady feet and pretending not to notice the way Vert tightened his grip on him automatically lest he were about to fall. "We have a big screen television, pop corn and an awesome couch. And best of all- the others are all heading to bed."

Well, when he put it like that.

Vert grinned, his arguments for getting Zoom to stay in the infirmary falling to pieces before his eyes. After all, a couple of movies curled up together on the couch? What better place was there to keep an eye on the other man?

"Alright. You have yourself a date."
