Roxas glanced around, he always hated school dances. No girl ever asked him out, which left him and his friend, Demyx sitting on the benches with the rest of the losers. There was a new face among the dancing students, a pale but beautiful face smiled at Roxas. He was transfixed, He stood up and made his way through the crowd, in search of those beautiful emerald eyes that called to him. He found himself in a corner, holding onto a tall, redheaded boy." Hmm, Can I guess your name?" the Redhead said, laughing. Roxas nodded absent-mindedly, the redhead's voice sounded like the soft twinkling of bells." Mn, I Have a feeling. It starts with an R, right?" The boys said, putting his hands on his hips. Roxas nodded again, staring blankly at the redhead." Roxas?" The redhead guessed. Roxas gaped at the redhead, how had he known? "Y-yeah, I'm Roxas." Roxas said, shocked. "Nice name, Roxy. I'm Axel." Axel said, grinning. That smile, was just angelic, Roxas thought."Hello…Axel." Roxas said shakily." So what brings you here, Roxyyy?" Axel said, twirling a strand of Roxas's hair around his fingers."Uh-well, I just-thought-and-um." Roxas stammered, staring at the ground." Dance..?" Axel said, raising an eyebrow."That's what I was hoping to say, yes." Roxas said, laughing nervously. Axel just smiled warmly and extended a hand. Roxas took his hand and was led out to the dance floor. Axel started twirling him around, and soon they became the center of attention. Axel smiled and whispered to Roxas, " Follow my lead Roxy!" Axel led Roxas into a waltz, the music softly playing. The circle the other students had formed around them was cheering. Axel smiled that angelic smile, which made Roxas feel like melting, A few hours later, they were both ready to go home.

Roxas was hand-in-hand with Axel, smiling gently. " Ya know, today's my birthday." Axel said, smiling again. They stopped in front of his house. Roxas pulled him close, seeing as they were about the same height and looked into those soulful green eyes."Will I ever see you again, Axel?" Roxas whispered sadly."C-can I borrow your sweater? I'm freezing." Axel stuttered. Roxas handed him the checkered sweater."Thanks, Roxy." Axel said, smiling. Roxas kissed Axel gently on the cheek and let him head towards his door. Roxas almost forgot about his sweater. He rushed back and knocked on the door, A young, solemn woman answered the door." How may I help you?" She said, raising an eyebrow." I danced with your son, Axel. I gave him my sweater and I almost forgot about it." Roxas said, curious at the sad look on the woman's face." That's impossible, My son died on his birthday, year ago today." The woman gently closed the door. There was graveyard nearby, Roxas felt a force draw him there. He looked around and the first grave he saw, he gasped. It was Axel's grave, his sweater lay neatly folded with a note pinned, lying on upon Axel's grave. Roxas looked at the note. " Thanks for the dance, It was the best thing that's happened to me. Thank you so much Roxas." Roxas's eyes filled with tears as he dropped to his knees. "So I'm guessing that was a no?" Roxas said, looking at the grave, hoping to hear Axel's cocky voice.
