Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural or Taylor Swift's song "Red"
Castiel never met God, but he loved Him with all of his being, all of his grace. The day Castiel disobeyed because Dean Winchester asked him to, was the day Castiel began to Fall, but it was too late for him to change his mind. He was in too deep. But what was worse was the day he realized God no longer cared, it was a dark day full of gray skies as the storm raged with the angel's misery.
Lucifer could still remember the faint touch of God's hands on his shoulders or wings. They were vague memories, but some things one never forgot. Lucifer knew everything about God, and somewhere inside his twisted, blackened grace, Lucifer still loved him. Fighting with God had been like waging war with something that just couldn't be beaten. Everything God would say to him would make Lucifer want to give up, to run into his Father's embrace and beg for forgiveness, but the Devil never did. He still could not regret any of his love for his Father though. That was one thing the Morning Star would never do.
Samandriel had always been a young, loyal angel, but like many others, he had never met God. The day Samandriel died, he knew it was Naomi's control over Castiel that made the older angel kill him, and he knew it would cause the other angel such guilt later on, even if Samandriel wanted to tell him that it shouldn't. Samandriel embraced his death, hoping that he would go wherever God was when he died, but all he saw was blackness. That was when he realized that Father really had left, and he faded out of existence entirely.
Gabriel had always loved God. He had been His messenger, and was one of four angels who ever got to meet Him. He loved God more than anything, but God had left them all and let the fighting start, fighting that Gabriel still had in vicious flashbacks, but still among those flashbacks, stuck in his head was a memory of peace, and that was what Gabriel clung to.
Gadreel was one of God's most trusted angels. He didn't mean to fail, but the Devil was too strong and got past him. There was nothing Gadreel could do. And for that, he was thrown in prison and horribly tortured. After a few thousand years, Gadreel lost all faith. God never loved him, so why should he love God? All Gadreel wanted was redemption, but his Father wouldn't even bother to listen.
Michael was loyal to an absent Father, following every order he was ever given. He accepted each task without question, even the task of killing his little brother, Lucifer. But secretly, Michael was glad when he and Lucifer were both trapped in the Cage. Father's creations could live on as he wanted, and maybe, just maybe, he would be able to reconcile with Lucifer, something he had never been allowed to do before.
Anael, who had gone by Anna since Falling, loved humans more than any other angel, except maybe Castiel. The difference was, she was willing to Fall for them. She hoped to leave Heaven and God behind, but she still held such fear over her Father's anger, thinking He would kill her if He ever found out what she had done. The day her memories came back, swirling around through her mind, that fear came back to her, but so did the memories of serving an absent Father, and she remembered that it wasn't always all bad.
AN: It used to have the lyrics of Red by Taylor Swift to go with it, but apparently that is against site regulations or something, so if you want to, just listen to the song while reading it.
