Heartfelt
The wedding was in full scene. He was hiding in the shadows, hoping that she couldn't see him. Not that he would have minded, but she did have a possessive boyfriend/husband.
When she said her vows, and he watched in disgust as they kissed, his heart shattered. What was left of it anyway.
Just as the party moved on to the small reception that she had kindly invited him to, Severus found it hard to actually move to give her the gift he'd been saving since fifth year.
His heartfelt apology.
Her eyes were scanning the room, searching for him. Sighing, he moved away from the shadows of the trees and entered the small room.
He had made sure that his mark could not be seen, but since she already knew what he was, it didn't seem like much of a difference.
But it was; at least for this one night, he could pretend that nothing had changed between them.
"Sev," she whispered, her eyes filling with tears. He gulped, knowing that this would be her reaction to seeing him again.
"Lily," he said, huskily, self-consciously playing with the tie he had worn for her wedding.
She moved toward him and he flinched back. She stopped, looking hurt and confused. He hung his head, mentally steeling himself for what he was about to say.
"Lily, I have something to say, something that I have not said since you left me in front of the Gryffindor common room. I am so terribly sorry for my reaction after you tried to help me. If it makes you feel better, I will even forgive Black that little prank he tried to pull. I will…" But here he didn't get to finish.
She placed a finger on his lips, stalling him in mid-sentence. "I have something to say too. I am sorry for how I reacted after you tried to apologize that same night. I can handle you not forgiving Sirius, but you need to forgive yourself. Don't let a prank like that get in the way of yourself. I know what he did was wrong, but he got what he needed to hear after Remus discovered it. I still love you, Sev."
And with that, she turned away, but not before he saw the tears flowing freely down her cheeks.
Placing his index finger on his lips, he tried to hold on to the feel of her touch for as long as possible. But what she said made no sense. Forgive himself? How did she expect that?
And how did he go about it in the first place?
A/N: okay, this is my first Sev/Lily fic in a long while. I hope you really enjoy this, or if not, at least review. Please?
