"Mommy!" cried out a small voice that came quickly towards her with the sound of tiny feet running. "What's this?" the small boy of about two and a half years held out a small rock.
Lenox sighed, "That's a rock, Sasuke." She told the small child with jet black hair that was a mess from the day's travel.
"Oh," the little Sasuke turned around and ran back to the tree he had found the rock from. His mom sat nearby in her long black coat gently brushing her dark hair. Lenox knew that it was roughly midday and that she wouldn't be waiting too much longer. They both knew how to get to this hidden cove they called their meeting place.
"Mommy!" the child called out again from near the tree holding up a small round object. "What's this?"
"That's….another rock."
"Oh." The boy sat down and began to play with the rocks and entertain himself for a few minutes before asking again, "Mommy – what's this?"
Lenox, now with her head in her hands sighed, "Ask your father."
"That's a leaf, Sasuke." Itachi answered his son as he came into the small clearing.
"Daddy!" the small boy raced to his father, who showed he acknowledged the child, but didn't express much emotion to him clinging now to his leg.
"Is Kisame with you?" Lenox didn't really need to ask because the large man would have been visible by that point.
"No," Itachi replied. "He knew I'd come to see you."
"Look, Mommy – Daddys here!" Sasuke told his mom who approached the two and stood in front of Itachi. Still as much of a mystery to her as he had been the day they met, Lenox was hesitant to kiss him, but she was bold and made the move. Itachi slightly reciprocated although quickly turned his attention back to his son who continued to talk, "Mommy and I walked a lot and then we ate some candy and noodles and threw stuff and played and then we walked some more and-"
"I'm going to meet with my brother soon." Itachi told Lenox speaking over the child. She nodded, aware of what that would mean. "You'll have to return to Akatsuki and the city; it is safe there."
Now Lenox glared at him as she stepped away, "Since when have you ever been concerned about keeping us safe?"
