It was after the bell rang, so Virgil and Zeke had to run off to their own respective classes. 4th Period happens to be my free period, as was Jeannette's, so I decided to search for her.

Jeanette seemed really freaked out when she left, after that incident at the library, and Zeke had to kindly remind me that the kiss hadn't happened yet! I was so stupid. At least, I hope, I could apologize, and at best, be friends again.

Searching for a girl was actually quite difficult, even though the high school campus was incredibly small. I checked the library again, the computer lab, more than half the classrooms, the music room, and the cafeteria. She was nowhere to be seen.

Unfortunately, as I was strolling by the 600s wing, I heard a few girls talk about Jeanette. I hid behind a tree and secretly listened in on their conversation.

"Did you hear Jeanette?" One asked.

"Yeah! She was in the bathroom stalls when I walked in to do my makeup." The other replied.

"What happened?" The third one asked.

"Well, I heard her crying in the stalls." She replied.

I silently slipped away. I couldn't believe it. Jeanette: the girl who was always so happy and quirky, the girl who never seemed to have a down day. And I made her cry. Did I really kiss that badly?

I began to run. I had stopped caring if I would get caught in the girl's restroom. I had to apologize to Jeanette before it was too late. I was about to push open the door to the first girl's restroom when Jeannette came hopping up to me.

"Hey! What's up? Why are you going in there?" She asked.

"Uh-er-…looking for you." I replied.

"There? Why would I be there?" Jeanette asked me with a confused look.

"W-Well…I heard a couple girls talk about you…and how you were-er-in there." I replied, blushing crimson red.

Jeanette seemed not to notice my blushing, and continued. "Really? Don't you mean the other Jeanette?" She asked.

I looked at her, confused. Then I remembered. There were two Jeanettes at our High School. One was the girl standing in front of me, the one that was always cheerful and unique. The other one is probably the one crying in the stalls. She is always depressed and obsessed with following the "Status Quo". One could say they were complete opposites.

"Do you know how some people say that when I'm mildly happy, she's mildly depressed? And when I'm extremely glad, she's extremely gloomy?" Jeanette asked, still jumping.

"Er-yeah." I said, not following where she was going with this.

"I have a theory about why Jeanette is so disheartened right now." It took me a while to register that she wasn't talking in third person. However, I noticed a tone in her voice I rarely ever heard. She was trying to tell me something really important.

"She's incredibly sad at the moment, because I'm incredibly happy. When I was leaving the library last period, I was the happiest girl on the planet!" She had resorted to the simplest words to describe how happy she was, and I could tell. However, I couldn't understand.

"Why were you so happy?" I asked, with a confused look on my face.

Jeanette grinned at me, and shook her head. "Charlie, you're such a doughnut."

I was even more confused, yet surprisingly, quite content with her new nickname. She's never called me that before. I was still pondering what the meaning of "doughnut" could possibly mean, when she reached over and planted a quick kiss on my lips.

Smiling, she said, "That's why I'm the happiest girl on the planet. Because of you, Charlie." And with that said, the bell rang as if on cue, and she skipped off to class.

Please don't kill me about this. I had such a great story planned out, but it didn't seem to go as I thought it would. Anyways, please review!
