Danny walked out of the station, after bringing Rikki down for stealing his weapon. He descended the steps and turned toward where he parked his bike. He looked up to see Lindsay waiting for him.

He wasn't sure if he should feel guilty for making her worry or annoyed that she was standing there looking like a mother who was gonna scold him, her arm folded across her chest like she was waiting for a fight.

When she spotted him her heart sank at the defeated look he had on his face. She hadn't been given any details from Don about what transpired but he assured her that he was okay. She wanted to run to him and wrap him in a hug and tell him she loved him, but she couldn't. He hadn't wanted any affection shown towards him, saying he didn't deserve it.

He was glad when he saw her face soften and her arms relax at her sides; he really didn't feel like another fight today. All he really wanted to do was get something to eat, and hold her.

So he walked to her, took her face in his hands and kissed her gently and chastely.

Before she could say anything, he spoke, "Thank you." He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly.

His heart still ached from the lose of the little boy that he had mentored, but here she was. He still had a full life ahead of him, a life that this woman he held in his arms was offering to him.

"You wanna tell me about it?" she asked from inside the cocoon he had created.

"Not here," he said softly to her, kissing her hair.

He pulled away and straddled the bike, but when she didn't follow he turned his head to look at her, "You gonna walk home Montana?" he lifted his cheek in a semi-smirk.

"Thought you'd never ask cowboy," she quipped, then she smiled to herself at the use of her nickname he had given her. Positioning herself behind him, she wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his leather clad back. He easily maneuvered the bike easily onto the street towards her place.

It wouldn't be easy, but they were gonna be okay.
