Rose lay back in the grass, her pale pink bangs falling off her face. She was watching the while clouds floating in the sky.
It was a beautiful day; warm, sunny and a light, cool breeze blew across the park. Apart from the sparse clouds there was nothing else in the sky.
'What do you see?' Rose jumped as Jaden Yuki sat down beside her.
'Clouds?' She cocked her head to one side.
Jaden laughed. 'I mean, what shape are the clouds?'
'Cloud shaped?' She paused. 'They always are.'
The younger boy chuckled. 'Look, that one there.' He pointed up into the sky. 'It looks like a rabbit.'
'How does that…oh!' She looked for another cloud. 'And that one looks like a dog.'
'You've got the hang of it now!' He beamed. 'And that one looks like Yusei's hair!'
Rose giggled. 'It does.'
'Speaking of Yusei.' Jaden turned to where Yusei Fudo was sitting with his back against a tree. 'Oi, Yusei! Come over and be social.'
The older boy glared back at Jaden, remaining totally silent.
'Please Mr. Yusei?' Rose asked. 'It would be much more enjoyable if you joined us.'
'Alright.' He stood up and walked over to the pair and sat down beside Jaden. 'Happy now?'
Rose giggled. 'Jaden thinks that cloud looks like your hairstyle.' She pointed upwards. 'See?'
'It looks like a Kuriboh.' He commented.
'You think your hair looks like a Kuriboh?'
'People say that.' He shrugged. 'I guess it does a little.'
Jaden laughed. 'I should start calling you Kuriboh then, hey Yusei?'
'Yeah no.' He stood up. 'I'm going for a walk.'
'Mr. Yusei?' Rose went to follow him but Jaden bolted past.
'You like her, don't you?' He asked once they were out of Rose's earshot.
Yusei remained silent and glanced back at the girl who was staring up into the sky. She was pretty but she had freaked out when he had told her about his past – how could she ever want someone like him.
'Do you?'
'Mr. Yusei?' Rose interrupted. Whilst he had been thinking Rose had walked over to where he and Jaden stood. 'Is something the matter?'
Yusei shook his head. 'I'm going for a ride.' He walked off to where his Duel Runner was parked behind a tree.
'Mr. Yusei?' Rose followed after him, leaving Jaden behind.
'What?' He turned to glare at her.
'I was just wondering…what kind of horse do you ride?'
'Huh?' He stared at her, confused.
'Your duel runner, what type of horse is it?'
'It's not a horse…'
'It isn't?'
'It's a sort of motorbike.'
'A horse.' Jaden burst out laughing. 'His Duel Runner is not a horse.'
'Who knows.' Rose snapped at him. 'Duel Runner might have been the horse's name.'
'Well it's not a horse.' Yusei sighed. 'Rose, I'll take you with me so you can see how it works, alright?'
'Alright.' She smiled and followed him over to the motorbike. Finally he was paying attention to her.
He smiled at her. 'See here, this is how I turn it on before riding it…'
She smiled back at him as he explained how the rest of the Duel Runner worked, both of then ignoring Jaden's taunts.
