Long ago, in the ancient time of fairy tales, the World was as pure as the light, itself. Many people believed that light was a gift from a powerful, unseen land known by the name of "Kingdom Hearts"– but in reality, Kingdom Hearts– along with the light– were gifts from a Goddess who had spared the Azurians' ancestors from the destruction of Atlantis. Fearing that Kingdom Hearts would fall into the wrong hands, the Goddess Renyra forged the "X-blade" with the single purpose of safeguarding its counterpart– but not even that was enough. Eventually, the World was overrun by legions who vied for the "Gift of the Goddess". And as a result, darkness was born. The warriors then crafted "Keyblades" based on the original and began a horrendous battle over the light within Kingdom Hearts. In time, this grim event came to be known as the "Keyblade War". With no other choice, the Goddess decided to destroy what she had created– that way, Kingdom Hearts will then be inaccessible. However, if she were to shatter the X-blade, Kingdom Hearts will then be vulnerable. For this reason, she then approached Endon– an Azurian whose bloodline traces back to the Royal Family of Atlantis, and gave him her own Keyblade– the Celestial Soul– to help her defend Kingdom Hearts until she broke the X-blade off into twenty-one pieces– seven of light, thirteen of darkness, and one of the two elements that created it. Once the X-blade was shattered, it came to Renyra that it will be a matter of time before someone will attempt to reforge the X-blade and repeat the history anew. She decided to take an extra precaution and seal Kingdom Hearts away within the folds of darkness– but by doing so, she will have to sacrifice her divinity and allow the World to be enveloped by the same darkness that Kingdom Hearts will then be locked away in. Renyra also became aware that the seal on Kingdom Hearts will not last for all eternity– and with that, she made up her mind and proceeds in sealing Kingdom Hearts away, but not before anointing Endon as the first monarch of his people and making sure that her soul will transfer into an unborn Star Child whose heart embodies the twenty-first X-blade shard. And although the World was plunged into the darkness like the Goddess have predicted, small fragments of light has survived within the heart of every child. And with that light, the World was reborn as we know it today, with smaller, countless worlds shining like stars in the sky. In order to keep the history from repeating itself, the warriors who have survived the Keyblade War decided to follow the example of King Endon and use the Keyblade– a weapon design to conquer the light– to defend the light instead, thus making them and Endon the very first heroes of the Keyblade.
