OK well this idea came to me while I was reading some other Naruto fics and it kept bouncing in my head for a while until I said "why not". Anyway this is my very first fic and I don't know if it will be any good or go anywhere but meh

Chapter 1: A kit in need

Konoha or The Village hidden in the leaves, if you were to ask the people that live in this village they would tell you that it is one of the most peaceful, bright and friendliest place to live.

But there is always a dark side to things even if they try to hide it as best they can. This is true for one Uzumaki Naruto, an eight year old kid with blonde spiky hair and azure blue eyes that no one could ever mistake for someone else's.

"THERE HE IS!"

"STOP RUNNING, YOU DEMON!"

"YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID TO OUR FAMILIES!"

Running through the streets of Konoha, on this rainy night, we find Naruto running from a mob that ganged up on him while he was in the park "I didn't *pant* do anything *pant* to you people! Why won't you leave me alone!" he said between breaths. He decided to go to the park today to see if he could make any friends, he thought he might have had some luck making friends on his birthday but the villagers decided to ruin his plans.

Yes, it was on this day years ago when the demon known as Kyuubi no kitsune attacked Konoha and killed many shinobi and civilians alike. No one knew why the kyuubi attacked or how it got close to the village without so much as a warning, but during the attack no one really had time to stop and think about it. The day was considered the worst day of their lives but for two people:The Yondaime Minato Namikaze and his wife Kushina Uzumaki, it was supposed to be one of the best, that is...until the attack.

'Why won't they go away? Why do they always come to hurt me? I want to go to bed so I could go to sleep and play with Rama-san!' Naruto thought as he ran away from the mob ducking under several items thrown at him.

Naruto had actually met the fox when he was only 7 months old, when his caretakers at the orphanage left him in his crib for a day and ignoring his cries since he was the only one in the room they left him in. During this time, he unknowingly tapped into the Kyuubi's power a bit and slipped into unconsciousness

Flashback

Waking up in his mindscape that was just a dark barren room (1), except for the massive cage with a paper tag with the word "SEAL"written on it attached to the center of the gate.

Not liking the hard floor Naruto began to cry and it is this crying that woke up the sleeping demon fox. "What is making that annoying sound!" the booming voice made Naruto stop crying for a second before he started again, much to the fox's annoyance.

Kurama the Kyuubi no Kitsune lifted his head and turned to look at the other side of the gate and spotted Naruto on the ground crying. Kurama was dumbstruck because he could not believe that his container was this little meatbag…...on the floor…..and was crying non stop.

"This is what I the great Kyuubi was sealed into?! This weak crying child! THE INSULT THAT THAT BASTARD YONDAIME GIVES ME! IF HE WASN'T DEAD ALREADY, I WOULD KILL HIM!"

All the yelling was able to quiet the baby but he was now trembling from fear even though he did not know it yet. "Finally decided to stop that annoying racket did you?" Kurama said as he took a closer look at Naruto. He could feel the fear that the baby had but knew it was from his yelling and not from him being a demon. 'If I kill him now I could be free from this prison and find that mask wearing Uchiha and tear him apart' thought the kyuubi but he decided not to do this. Despite being a demon, he was not evil, he would not do such a despicable act even if it meant his freedom (2). Seeing the trembling baby the kyuubi moved one of his nine tails to pick him up and bring him close to get a better look.

"Such a tiny little speck" he said as he looked at Naruto. Naruto himself stopped trembling, stared at the fox's muzzle and being so close to it, started slapping his nose and giggling. Kurama just stared at the giggling baby and smiled showing his sharp fangs which just gave Naruto something else to slap "no fear or hatred, just a blank slate and giggles" Kurama stated with a chuckle as he laid his head on his hands/paws as well as lower the tail holding Naruto down next to his head. As he closed his eyes to sleep he could feel Naruto begin to wiggle a bit before stopping and yawned cutely signifying that he was seconds away from sleeping.

Cracking open his eye he saw that Naruto had fallen asleep on his tail. Knowing that Naruto would soon be leaving the mindscape he himself starting to drift to sleep 'he might not be so bad…..if he stayed this small and quiet'

Flashback end

That was not the last time Naruto interacted with the fox. However all of them were when he went to sleep in the room at the orphanage. He would fall asleep on his bed and immediately wake up in his mindscape, once he was there he would play with the fox.

Kurama rather enjoyed the time he spent with Naruto, letting the boy play with his Tail, talk about whatever they could and comfort the boy when he was sad. After the first 2 years Kurama grew so fond of the child that he considered Naruto 'His Kit'. He wished with everything he had that he wasn't responsible for how Naruto's life was. That the people would chase him, beat him, torment him and would see him as what he was, a kind gentle boy looking for someone to acknowledge him.

Naruto on his part started to see the fox as an imaginary father figure since the only time he saw Kurama was when he fell asleep. He would enjoy his time talking to Kurama, playing with Kurama and having someone close to him but he always thought that it was just his imagination manifested what he always wanted into the form of his favorite animal.

When Naruto was Four he had told the Sandaime: Hiruzen Sarutobi about his interactions with the fox, much to the old man's shock. The old man nearly had a heart attack from hearing how that the boy talked to it, even played with the massive demon. After composing himself Hiruzen told Naruto never to trust anything the fox tells him, confusing the boy who wondered what was the problem but in his naivete he nodded his head. Naruto had agreed to what Hiruzen said but since his attention span was very minimal, he forgot about it that night when he was using Kurama's tail as a makeshift slide much to Kurama's amusement. As time went on Naruto grew even more close to Kurama that he was always excited when it was time to go to sleep just so they could meet. They were so close that even Naruto's first word was an attempted saying of his name "Rama"

Naruto was pulled out of his thoughts as a kunai hit him in his left shoulder. Looking back he noticed that some shinobi joined the mob making him start to run a little faster but he quickly realized that he was starting to lose energy after running around for 40 minutes or so. Pulling out the kunai as he turned into an alley he grabbed some piled up boxes and pulled them to fall behind him slowing the mob a bit. Turning a corner in the alley he found that he was stopped by a ten foot tall wooden fence "no…...no, no, no please no" he said as he jumped trying to reach the top but couldn't get close to it. In a panic he began looking for a place to hide and out of sheer luck he saw a box in the corner of the fence and wall, quickly ran to it and hid inside out of sight just as the mob rounded the corner to see he wasn't there.

"Where did the demon go?!" a random civilian woman said

The mob began to shift the garbage on the other side of the alley. Naruto even heard them kick down a trash can causing him to shiver in fear, praying that they wouldn't find him. He could feel someone walking in his direction and felt someone put their hands on the very box he was hiding in. He then heard someone else speak

"It must have jumped over the fence, lets go around, we might be able to cut it off before it can get away!" a civilian man screamed out in anger

Naruto kept his hands over his mouth to keep as quiet as possible and listened to the footsteps of the mob leave. After ten minutes of not hearing anything, he decided to leave the box slowly to see if there was anyone remaining in the alley. Not seeing anyone around the alley, he got up and started walking towards the exit of the alley only to be kicked hard in the head back into the fence. With a yelp, his back hit the fence before falling face first into the ground.

Through blurry vision he looked up to see one of the shinobis from the mob looking down on him with a cocky smirk. "Thought you could trick me you filthy demon?!" he said as he kicked Naruto in the ribs "I'm a chunin! You are nothing *kick* but a lowly demon *kick* that the Yondaime weakened *kick* so I could finish you off!" he said as he continued to kicked the boy. He then picked Naruto up by the neck and slammed him against the fence before he began to beat Naruto in the face with his free hand. After Naruto's face was barely recognizable the chunin pulled out a kunai from his weapons pouch "you know, I'm feeling generous so I'm going to teach you something I learned recently. I heard that if you infuse chakra into a weapon it makes it more deadly and makes it easier to kill something!". What the chunin didn't know was that the information he just said was meant for elemental chakra being poured into a kunai or a weapon made from chakra-metal, however he was a cocky newly made chunin so he didn't know all the facts.

Infusing the kunai with his chakra he pulled it back ready to plunge it into the boy "I should stab you in the heart but you don't have one, so instead I'll stab you in the stomach. That should hurt you enough and you can bleed to death from it"

Naruto slowly tried to open his right eye, since it was the only one not swollen shut and with tears and blood streaming down his face he stared at the crazed chunin with his whole body trembling in fear. 'Hokage-jiji…. Rama-san…..save me…..please!' he screamed in his head praying that they would come to help.

Kurama hearing this snapped his eyes open. Lifting his head up, he began to see through Naruto's immediate thoughts(3) and saw what was happening to his kit at that very moment "No, No, NO! DON'T YOU DARE HURT MY KIT! SHIT! WHERE IS THE OLD FOSSIL WHEN YOU REALLY NEED HIM!" he screamed as he rammed into the gate over and over again. After a few seconds he decided to pour his chakra into Naruto hoping that the amount would be enough to scare the stupid shinobi away thinking that the fox was being released

Just as the kyuubi's chakra started to pour out from the seal, the chunin plunged the kunai into Naruto's stomach and impaled it into the seal causing an unforeseen and unnoticed disruption in it. Naruto began to gurgle out a scream but was silenced by the man when he let the kunai stay in his stomach and using his hand to cover his mouth "what? You don't like my lesson? Aw now I feel bad" the man said with a sick look in his eyes "you know, I should leave you to rot in this alley among the trash but I'm still feeling generous so I will just dump you in your cesspool apartment so you can die in the filth you live in". the chunin then shunshined away to Naruto's apartment.

~Outside of Naruto's Apartment~

Once he arrived to the rundown apartment complex, the chunin just tossed Naruto through a broken window that showed the apartment's dining area. "You can die there on the floor, but who knows, maybe someone will check up on you and save your life…..though I doubt it you filthy demon!" he said knowing that no one even lived in the complex since everyone moved out when Naruto was given the apartment from the third Hokage. The chunin then left laughing and with a cruel smirk on his face thinking that he should celebrate the "death of the demon"

Naruto lay there on his side with the kunai still in his stomach staring blankly at the wall as the tears and blood continue to stream down his face, which was losing its color. His eyes were slowly losing the light in them becoming dull and lifeless. He barely even registered the voice in his head "Kit?!...answer me kit please! Come on kit hold on! Don't you dare give up! You said you would become the Hokage for this stupid village!" Kurama screamed as he kept banging on the cage and release his chakra 'Why isn't my chakra healing him!?' Kurama thought to himself, "How can you become hokage if you give up and die here!?" Kurama screamed as he was slamming himself even harder into the gate pushing as much chakra into Naruto trying to heal him and with a few tears dampening his fur under his eyes. What Naruto said next was something that shocked him because he hasn't been call this until now.

"Kur...ama….tou….cha…." Naruto said with a smile as the light left his eyes

"KIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTT!"

Well that's where this chapter ends. I didn't expect this to end this way but I was typing this on the fly so it came out this way

Just to let you readers know I will be trying to keep to canon storyline as much as I can but it might go in a different direction and as for pairings…...I don't know if I will set one up. I'm a hopeless romantic and read a horde of romance fanfics and watched a lot of romance cartoons, movies and anime but I have never written one and this is my first story but let me know if you want him to be paired with someone and I will see if I can make it work, like I said this is just flowing out of my head. But I will say this that whether there is a pairing or not Hinata has a part of this and whether he ends up with her someone else or multiple she will NOT be removed from the story

1) With Naruto only being a baby his mind hasn't had time to be molded completely yet, which is why his mindscape is a barren room with no hallway instead of a sewer but it becomes a sewer a few years later when his mind is slightly more developed

2) I feel like Kurama wouldn't know that the seal would kill him if he kills Naruto and would find out later, even if he would reform, and I feel like he only attacked Naruto during the sealing out of anger and desperation at least for my story that's how I'm setting it up

3) I felt like making it where Kurama doesn't have immediate access to Naruto's senses, but has some access to his memories so Kurama can see what Naruto sees from his very most recent memory which puts a few second delay for him
