Hey people. This is my first ff. after watching last night's episode (which by the way was one of the best I've seen on One Tree Hill) I got inspired. On that note, this story is definitely Leyton, with Naley, and there's going to be Breyton. Please be kind in your reviews, this is my first time writing a ff. Without further rumbling, I give you Chapter 1.
All she could do was just sit there. Sit there and look at his motionless form. The only thing that she kept on replaying in her mind was what Brooke said in the car on their way to the game.
"Peyton here again. Have I mentioned that if you love me you'll probably die soon? See mothers 1 and 2."
Brooke probably didn't know how true those words were at the moment when she said them. How else can you describe having two dead mothers and a boyfriend who is hanging on for dear life? And as much as she hated being in hospitals, she refused to leave his side. She hasn't spoken to anybody for over five hours. People cam in to the room and asked her questions. She just replied with a simple head movement. She couldn't grasp the fact that only couple of hours ago she was basking in her happiness. That just faded to black within minutes. Why the hell did this night have to end so badly? What have Lucas and Hailey done that caused them to end up like this? Those two people were the least deserving of such a cruel punishment. At least, they all have gotten a word on Hailey. She was OK. And so was her baby.
Peyton couldn't shake off the feeling of anger. She was angry with everybody because they tried so hard to comfort her. She was angry with herself for shutting them out. And most of all, she was mad at Lucas because he didn't take his medicine today. How could he be so careless? If this was how her relationship with him went, hell, he'd be better off without her. For the first time in her life, Peyton experienced déjà vu. It was only a year ago that she was in the same place looking at the same motionless body. This time it was different though. This time they were together for real. No hiding, no sneaking around. Only this time, he ended up in the hospital again with his life hanging on a loose thread, with only a machine to tell her that he is still alive. And this time she vowed not to leave his side until he wakes up.
Brooke sat outside of Lucas' room going over the same exact words that Peyton was going over. She knew very well that Peyton must be dwelling on them right now. How could she be so careless and say that out loud. Hell, she wasn't even mad at Peyton that much. If she could only go back in time. But she couldn't, the words were spoken, hanging over them like a bad curse. Every now and then she walked to Hailey's room just to check up on her friend. It was useless. The guilt kept coming back and haunt her. She had to talk to Peyton. She had to let her friend know that she didn't really mean the words that came out of her mouth.
Nathan sat by his wife's bedside. Cradling her hand in his, he couldn't help but feel guilty. The State Championship seemed so irrelevant to him now compared to the life of his wife and son. He thanked God every minute that Hailey and their child were OK. She came out with a concussion and couple of broken bones. The doctors told him that she should be waking up any minute now. It was due to his own stupidity that his brother and his wife were now in the hospital.
