Prompt: Better Your Heart Than Mine – Trisha Yearwood
JJ wasn't sure what to think or do. She couldn't believe that she had went and done the one thing that she swore to herself she wouldn't do. She had went and fell in love with one David Rossi and she was about to run scared. She didn't like the way that she was feeling at all. She didn't like feeling as if she needed him in order to breathe. Feeling this much and feeling this deep scared the life right out of her.
She wanted to tell him how she felt yet she wanted to run in the opposite direction. She wanted to wrap her arms around him yet she wanted to push him away. She wanted him to hold her yet she wanted him to let go. She couldn't believe how conflicted she was. She couldn't believe that she had went and fell in love with the one man she wasn't sure could love her.
As she looked up into his eyes she felt as if her world was coming down around her feet and she felt worse as he said "Why are you doing this JJ? Why are you breaking my heart?"
JJ took in a deep breath and said "Better your heart than mine Dave. If we keep doing whatever this is I'm going to end up heartbroken. It's best if we end it now."
Dave took a step forward and put his thumb and forefinger on JJ's chin lifting her face up so she would look into his eyes. "Damn it JJ I love you. I mean I am in love with. I never meant to fall for you and I know when we started this we said no strings but damn it Jen I want the strings. I want it all and I want it with you. I love you and I only love you. We can make this work babe. Please just give me a chance. Please just give us a chance. I know I can make you fall for me like I have you Bella."
JJ saw the truth in Dave's eyes and finally gave up the fight within herself. She knew that if she didn't give in then she would lose the best thing to ever happen to her. Yes, she knew of his past but that was in the past. She knew that what he was saying was the truth and nothing but the truth.
She sighed and stepped fully into his arms. "I am in love with you Dave. That is why I was trying to end it. I didn't want to get hurt when you got tired of me. But now that I know you are in love with me like I am with you then I know that we can and that we will make it through this and through anything and everything thrown our way."
Dave smiled and nodded. "You're right babe we can. As long as we have each other nothing else matters. I love you Jen."
JJ smiled as she tilted her head back to look up at the man she was in love with. "I love you too Dave."
