Author's Note: Yes, this is short: but, it's sort of like my first drabble-y, one-shot-y thing...oh, I think you got it! Enjoy, and happy reading!
Chapter One: The List
Ryan Evans could name several things about Haylie Anderson.
Her eyes, her hair, the way she smiles, the way she laughs...
The way she sings, the way she talks, the way she walks...
Was that being too obsessive?
Maybe so, but if he didn't think about her, Ryan would probably go insane.
As he was sitting in class one day, Ryan was biting lightly on the eraser of his pencil, listening to Professor Davidson.
But, what Ryan was currently doing wasn't taking notes.
He was thinking of a list of things that he liked about Haylie.
Ryan nearly had the list completed:
Haylie's List
1. The way she laughs.
2. The way she smiles.
3. Her sense of humor.
4. Being concerned.
5. Acting like such a "kid at heart".
6. Taking care of Lilly.
7. The way she sings.
8. Being so short, you could pick her up, and sweep her off her feet.
9. When she cries.
And was what Ryan had so far.
What could number ten be?
"Ryan."
Ryan stopped biting his pencil, and looked at Greg Westson, who was frowning at him.
Ryan blinked, and Greg sighed.
"Class is over. You completely spaced out."
That's when Ryan's eyes widen.
"Really? I mean...I didn't know."
Greg's frown turned into a smile.
"Were you thinking about Haylie again?"
Ryan felt a blush rosing up to his cheeks, as he smiled.
"I guess you could say that. I'm trying to make her a list for her."
As they were getting out of class, Ryan handed the list to Greg so he could read it.
"Why did you stop at nine?"
Ryan smirked.
"Because that's all I can think of. Any suggestions?"
Greg laughed, and grinned in Ryan's direction.
"Sorry. But, I'm not her boyfriend. I'm just her friend."
Ryan shook his head as Greg gave him one, final smile before departing from the blonde-haired boy.
Maybe if Ryan saw Haylie, he might have ideas for that last one...
So, that's what he did: he got into his car, and drove to the house he shared with Haylie.
When he walked into the livingroom, the small girl was sitting on the couch, reading a book.
Haylie looked up, and she was surprised to see Ryan.
"Ryan! What are you doing home so early?" she asked, and Ryan smiled as he sat down on the couch next to her.
"I just missed you, is all."
He leaned in to kiss her, and that's when he thought of the tenth reason:
What he liked best about her was her kisses.
