Alex Eames' Bath – the Ten Word Challenge
It had been a tough case, a hard week and Alex was going to soak away the physical and emotional pains in her bathtub. The water was warm and blue due toher favorite bath beads. She felt as if she had been forced to crawl up a mountain.
In her mind, she could still see the child's sippy cup laying on the high chair when they entered the kitchen. The child was found alive, but was now alone because his mother had been murdered and his father would be spending the remainder of his life in jail.
Major Case had worked for 48 hours to find out where the father had gone with his son. It had been a tense drive tothe father's hideaway, everyone believing that they would not find the child alive. It had been a surprise to find father and son watching a video in the living room of the cabin. As they entered the room, he had grabbed a gun, using his son as a shield. Bobby had been able to talk the man into putting the gun on the floor and leaving the house with his child held gently in his arms. When they saw Bobby emerge with the man and child, Alex was the first to run to his side and determine that everyone was fine. As soon as the child was removed from the father's grasp and handcuffed, the group let out a collective sigh. On the drive home, Bobby held the little boy in the back seat, the baby sleeping in his arms. He and Alex talked quietly, trying to decompress before getting back to PP1.
Everything after that was a blur, the goal being to pipe all of the information from this case into the correct forms and boxes. After that, Alex and Bobby rode in silence as she drove him home and then proceeded to her apartment.
Alex was letting it all drift away as she began to doze in the tub. It would be OK now, she would go back and do it all again tomorrow.
